Provisional 2025 Draft order

James Hird preaching that the Eagles don't desserve any draft help is amusing because they bought it on themselves.

Essendon got a number one draft pick, under his watch, due to one of the worst doping scandals in sporting history and i'm sure he gladly accepted that.

Fitting in the end they wasted it on McGrath when there were better players available
Are saying the AFL 'supplemented' Essendon's draft? 😂

Anyway, Hird's takes this year are cementing his status as a flog.

Every club brings it on themselves in at least part. Things don't just happen in a vacuum.

Our part, that we didn't bring on ourselves was.

1. Shep being a concussion retirement
2. Venables being a concussion retirement
3. McGovern being a concussion retirement
4. Sheed being an injury retirement
5. Yeo being made of glass since 2019 (minus 2024)
6. Allen being made of glass since 2021 (minus 2023)
The worst for mine is Naitanui.

AA ruckman 2021. Played 8 more games.

You can't plan for that. Obviously, otherwise we might have had a better ruck transition strategy than Barnett and Williams...

It sems like there is an obvious solution for the AFL to help us without compromising the draft.
Give us 2 extra list spots and the ability to prelist 2 NGA's a year over the next two years.
Probably doesn't move the needle much this year but it will get us Evans/Walley/Williams this year and McGlade, Kenh next year without diluting our picks/list spots.

Stops the negative media about giving us extra picks and further compromising the draft. Plus, other clubs don't have access to these players anyway, so it doesn't hurt them.

It helps our WAFL team depth as well as gives us a chance to look/turnover more players.
Then if we are still this bad in two years, it will be time for some serious help IMO.

Jarrod Cameron just flat out quitting football when he looked like having a Bobby Hill breakout season 😤
Also every single player over 28 falling off a cliff dramatically

and crying about hubs/covid

then there's that Rioli jerk

Reckon we'll get the same as what North did.

From Twomeys article
"The AFL has used recent success as a benchmark for priority pick or list concession package decisions in the past. In 2022, the Kangaroos received two future draft picks to be traded for players, as well as granting the Roos two extra list spots, after they had won 12 of their previous 84 games."

The narrative is already there with the "Harley needs support" articles

A couple of end of 1sts that have to be traded for current players and some extra spots

Could add Waterman, Naitanui and Gaff to that list. Also, Edwards as a concussion retiree.

We need to show them the concession norf got was epic failure.

We need to show them the concessions gold coast got was epic success.

Insanity would be the afl giving us norf package. Shoot for gcs style package.
Remind me what the difference is?

And Rioli, who burnt us.

Considering he's out of the port side because he's too fat needing to work on his conditioning, might not be a bad thing

I have moved from the PP camp to the no PP camp.
  • (R) Jack Hutchinson (10/11/01) - Signed a 3 year extension (2027-29) on an existing contract due to expire 2026 in May 2025
  • Liam Duggan (11/12/96) - Signed a 4 year extension (2025-28) in July 2024
  • Tim Kelly (26/7/94) - Signed a 2 year extension (2026-27) in May 2025
  • Matt Owies (19/3/97) - Signed a 3 year contract (2025-27) in October 2024
  • (R) Sandy Brock (14/12/02) - Signed a 2 year extension (2026-27) in July 2025
Nobody did this except the club.

Who is the mystery mature aged mid we could pay $$ and still keep our draft capital in the 1st round??
WC have recently been actively chasing someone for the past year/re Warner, so who is being targeted behind closed doors?

Clearly we are walking Bont to the PSD :P

Why? Its going to be another shit show. We will give up pick 14 and extras for Darcy Cameron, split pick 2 and give Neil Erasmus a 4 year deal.

People here will clap about how its still a win and do a complete 180 from their previous position. Rinse and repeat
Booked marked for a few months time, stop being so negative it will do you no good. None of us know what the future holds, but I’d be willing to bet what you’ve outlined there won’t be it.
Imagine this year if we hadn’t had Baker and Graham in the team, we’d probably be on 0 wins with a percentage of 40.
I think we will look to bring in some experience, combined with a heap of kids, we actually need to.
