Ground ball is everything and we fall short at the contest week after week irrespective of how well we play in other areas.

CDT won't move the needle in the short term and given he's a tall he's statistically less likely to have a long career.
Totally agree. And we need some hard ball gets/tackling types. Davies and Neale would be a great start.

It ain’t gonna happen, those 2 players will not be at our football club next year dunno why people keep mentioning there names.

Carrying on from the Hewett, Kelly and Oliver thing. Darcy Cameron and Neale had a big huge and smile. See you at the Eagles next year sort of smile.

Cameron - Neale - Oliver - Harley starting mid confirmed.

I've been keen on Curtin since his draft because of his class, how clean his hands are, but wasn't sure at his size he could impact away from the contest. But he's now much stronger and faster as a result of that power, closes space easily and can go with anyone.

I'd be throwing the Oscar compo pick 2 at Adelaide for Dan so they can get Sharp, tell Dan you're a permanent Mid. Then draft his brother. We need to pay overs for the best Western Australian talent because we aren't getting anyone from over east asking to come here.

We need a hard nut like Choco to toughen up the whole club. The club has been soft, weak and piss poor since Bell has been the football manager, sack him and get Choco.
Wasn’t that some of what Woosha coming back was suppose to do?

So a weak draft where picks in the 30s and 40s are far more likely to be a miss than a hit and you’d rather have a stab? Last year I wouldn’t do the trade due to the depth and quality of the draft. This year is going to be a crap shoot after the 1R. I’ll take the known quantity instead of low value picks.

It’s not short sighted at all. Everyone understands Cameron will not play in a flag at WCE, but he will allow our young mids first use of the ball for a change instead of chasing opposition and will be a massive help to our under siege back line. It will also allow us to finally use an offensive game plan from the CBAs and opposition will have to have a defensive strategy, rather than knowing they will get first hands to the ball.

Meanwhile we have Archer developing in the background and can look to rookie a developing ruck.
On this. It usually turns out that the actual #35 pick taken would be someone that we have on our board at say #20. Hence why most clubs are legitimately chuffed come draft time. We should be moving on guys quicker (Jamieson, Livingstone, Barnett (in 2026?) now that we actually seem to be getting pressure for best 22 spots.

I'm of the opinion that Flynn is the stop gap and we should conserve our draft hand, and trade for "good" options in midfielders and flankers only. Rookie a bunch of rucks rather than main draft any, and if we need a Hickey/DC style trade to top up in a few years then so be it.

You might have a short memory mate because we fielded an elite tap ruckman on the park for 20 years in Gardiner, Cox and Naitanui. Anyone who's played midfield at any grade knows how hard it is to react to a dominant ruck, you're just a step behind and that's all it takes. Cameron isn't in their league but will help our structure for the next 3 years, probably won't cost that much.

He might be being underpaid but he is still one of Collingwood's top 10 most important players. And he is under contract. So i think he will cost a bomb. Collingwood are not going to give him away.

Yesh you're right they and we wouldn't give up a first. But if it's not him, who else is wanting to move west?

The rucks in the AFL are pretty much the weakest ever. Outside Gawn who outdoes everybody, no other ruck is really getting hold of us with hollywood taps and having the ascendancy that you are talking about. We ****ing suck when the ball hits the deck anyhow.

*Hell, DeKoning has less hitouts and he is up for a million dollar contract despite rucking most the season solo

I agree with that. Flynn and Williams are B grade ruckman and we need something better long term. But i think we overblame (if that is a word) them when we get flogged in the middle. Opposition rucks don't get that many taps to advantage which is what really counts. We are just s*** at winning the ball when it hits the deck. The mids deserve more of the blame than what they are getting.

Pick 1 would be nowhere near enough for Curtin this year. I'd even debate if both our top picks would be. This years draft absolutely sucks and doesn't even have one stand out gun to take at pick one to redeem it.

Playing in a good team helps, but Curtin has scary levels of potential that I didn't think he would have.

Curtin is learning from the best prototype of player he could be in Dawson. He could be a top 5-10 player in the comp in a couple of years.

Will take a bit to go right but if he can move inside like Dawson did he’ll be extremely well rounded and with his size and power (that will come) will be hard to stop

At this point I’m just for giving Harley whatever he wants, imagine multiple more year of performances like today.

There needs to be serious change at the club in this offseason.
He is a must have as a combative mid, now we must draft more that are very hard at the contest

We will never know now who would have been right.
It wouldn't have been Adelaide letting him go after one season, it would have been after two, but regardless.

The point with Rankine is that he was happy at GC, and even though he is from Adelaide, and loved the Crows, if we had just had offered the same type of money as GC, he would not have come back.
We needed to put a bigger offer than GC were willing to do to get him to turn his head.
So, even though Curtin is from WA, to get him to move back still requires more money than Adelaide would offer.

Jake Lever left us because Melbourne offered far more money than we did. If we had of given him the same he would have stastayed
Lol, not even remotely accurate. Adelaide probably had to overpay as locals are not as wedded to South Australia and in many cases, prefer to relocate. Even the WA clubs have no problem retaining the South Australian players.
