What would be an acceptable trade for Chesser?

The R2 pick tied to Brisbane that you hold or your R3 pick are probably around the mark

Alternatively, I saw a report we have some interest in Blake Acres so a straight swap would be fair

I prefer Chesser extends, seeing some signs finally that he has a role to play, just needs to stay fit.

I am looking forward to seeing how CDT tests at the combine, particularly his running vertical test. If he has grown a few more cm's then excellent but the AFL is hell bent on changing the rules in the ruck next season so if you can't jump you're screwed for starters.

He is essentially an extra mid at the coalface so if he looks (jumps) like he could ruck in the modern game we'd be silly to not strongly consider him.

Who we draft depends heavily on how the AFL assists us. I doubt we are looking at picks but if they give us pre-selection to our academy boys and no free agency dilution then that changes everything.

If we are lucky enough to secure those two caveats then i would be looking to do the following.

Trade Hawks first and second and our second to GC for pick 7 (Ports pick)

Head to draft with Picks 1,2 & 7 and Hawks third to bid on Banfield.

Use future second and third if need to trade for any players.

Target Worpel, Crouch and Starcevich as free agents.

If we can make this happen we can afford to take CDT with one of the picks.

I thought Chesser and Maric were ok yesterday - both pretty much locked in those roles for the game.

I agree.

Chesser had 335 metres gained for his 13 disposals yesterday. Ran his ass off all day and did more than enough with the ball when he did get his hands on it.

If he keeps this up for last two games we would be silly to let him go.

And should have had an extra goal or two.

I feel the pick we would get for chesser wouldn't get us as good as player in this weak draft .

It really is a crap shoot after pick 15 unless you have northern academy players .

Best thing would be to sign him for another year or 2

He outjumps the opponents at the centre bounce but (like Flynn) in totally unable to direct a won tap to advantage a teammate.
That's what my visual assessment of him is - often gets first hands to the ball but doesn't direct it well to mosquito fleet. Similarly, he will get hands on ball when attempting to mark the ball but frequently the ball spills and is whisked away by opposition players.

Swapping your TDK compo for the Hawks' 1st probably works for both clubs. Slightly in our favour if anything but I imagine you guys want to get above or below a bid for Dean.
Interesting, didnt realise he was rated that highly by the Eagles.. Thought might be a decent option with the Jack Silvagni compo, likely to be end of 2nd round. Would rather try our hand at the draft.

Its more about his potential vs this draft.
He'd only fetch a mid to late 2nd rounder if traded but id rather keep him than take a late pick.
Especially when we have a few first rounders into 3-4 NGA or f/s kids in the 2nd round onwards

Chesser has attributes we sorely lack, by all accounts is a high character and is good mates with Harley, given the initial outlay and the time invested into his rehabilitation id suspect we would strongly prefer to keep him.

Realistically if he was to request a trade it would be minimal return

Then why did their CEO give their departing premiership players a sly clip at the best and fairest for not sticking around for the upcoming hard times?

It's their last time at the club, wouldn't you congratulate and thank them for all their service? The trades are done, no need to pretend any longer.

Contracts mean nothing these days, if a players asks to leave and you can get fair compensation you just do the deal and move on. It doesn't mean you're happy about it.

I'm not disagreeing with all your points but the remark Richmond were keen to let them go doesn't add up.
What was said about the four departing players?

To all those celebrating and happy that Cameron is now off the table, don't bitch , moan and complain next year when we once again get smashed in the clearances and at stoppages ( and consequently not win games ).

I am celebrating and I will bitch moan and complain all I like :) in particular since Cameron will make zero difference to our ladder position although one could argue a better ruckman could have helped us beat Essendon and Richmond.

But we still would have finished last.

North have a world class ruckman, look where they are.

You'd get him for cheaper but my understanding is that the Dean bid potentially sits in an awkward spot for you guys
