Is this the four year deal with a trigger for two more that was reported? Or a pure six year deal?

Was WCE_phil the original poster of the 4+2 contract information?

Seeing as Phil has spoken about the 4+2 contract before, I’d say that this is a new, straight 6 year offer.

It’s pretty harsh to judge Allen on yesterday… I think If waterman played Allen wouldn’t of and I wouldn’t be surprised if he misses this week either… he was limping before the game with tape on his knee then never recovered from his early leap in the second quarter…

It looked He injured his back and shoulder and couldn’t get his hands above his head and did a short fitness test when they came back after halftime to see if he got subbed…

You’re making excuses for how bad he was. He suited up and was on the park playing. He couldn’t be so dumb to play injured again, like last year and do further damage.

That mark he went for was such a dumb attempt too. He went for the flashy move.

In the last 2.5 years, we’ve looked better with Jake at FF.

I believe Petch was discussed with the Darling trade to NM but he wanted to stay.
They would take him as he is a RFA and we would probably get a pick in the 40's for him.

Chesser unfortunately hasn't shown enough and injuries have been a big thing.
I would chase another player around the same age who s on the edge of best 22 in a really good side and OOC.
Just on Chesser, Mini talked him up a bit in the midweek presser last week, so expect him to get opportunities once he returns.

No, I suggested I would offer a 4+2 deal. The deal offered to him was less, I was told today that it's been upped to a straight 6 year offer. I'm not impressed. I wouldn't have offered it. Too injury prone. I would have offered 4 on good money and if he walks he walks.
100% agree. I don't think he's worthy of a straight 6 years based on his injury history and career record to this point.

Hopefully the 6 is on average money, so he would be getting much better offers elsewhere.

A bit of doing our bit to publicly seem to be offering a fair deal(the years is what people focus on) and not pushing our captain out?

Looked underdone for sure.

Didn’t Oscar fly somewhere in the off season to up his training and get his body right?

It was clear last season that he wasn’t fit enough and he’s come back in no better shape.

Plays and moves like a [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]]s full forward. If we sign him for [emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]] years it will end in tears

Goroyals criticised for being too lenient?! Well I never.

They could use Warner’s money for Oscar and would make sense if he is leaving.

While it wouldn’t be a direct trade it would be pretty smart business (if both are leaving anyway)

Eagles - Warner + Sheldrick
Swans - Oscar + Pick 2* (Oscar compo) + Hawks pick 18*

If the Warner thing goes down what picks they want will come down to where their Academy kids are likely to go. They have 3 considered top 25ish and one maybe top 10.

List spots will be getting tight for them.

So you are valuing Warner to be worth 2 first rounders (2 and 18) and a key forward who on the open market would attract 2 first rounders himself. So 4 first rounders?!! Sheldrick is steak knives

Think this is a dumb play this early in the year. Other clubs at the bottom have been very tactical with letting FA's go for band 1's. It's one of the best ways to accelerate a rebuild and we should be keeping that option open depending how this year tracks. If Williams, Reid, Shanahan continue to develop well but we find ourselves with the spoon we would be mad not to let him go for pick 2.

Williams isn't a forward. Drop that pipe dream. Reid and Shanahan have 4 yrs of development before they're dominant. And Shanahan might yet be needed down back. If there is one thing that's plainly obvious in the AFL at the minute, it is that big men with talent are hard to find.

Jack Williams is most definitely a key forward . Bailey not so much

Not excuses.. reasons.. if you were there and watched the game you could see what was going on.

No it was a hypothetical. Explaining while we won’t trade Oscar for Chad directly. Swans could use Chads money for Oscar if either were to leave and they still cash in on top picks.

They could really get 5 of the top 20 kids this year + Oscar. 3 Academy kids + Oscar compo + Bundle up for another pick before their academy kids.

Of course they would much rather keep Chad but it’s not a bad fall back plan. Maybe even JUH and Oscar in the forward 50 + 4 top kids next year if Chad were to leave.

And once again you make a grand statement based on no knowledge or inside information!

Ask yourself, what value did your post add? Must be going to the Damien Barrett insight school. He posts on leadership yet like you, he knows SFA

lol no grand statement mate. First a question, followed by a deduction of what Phil meant, which was right.

Edit: of course I have no inside knowledge, I’ve never claimed to.

Allen has a lot more value to a team that can pepper the forward line all day, he'd kick 50 a year at a Brisbane or Swans.

To us, we can afford to lose him and not notice.

I was talking B.W.

JW yes much more a forward.

I think Patron was referring to jack Williams in his post in regards to our young KPFs .

I doubt anyone still believes bailey will make it as a key forward .

I was impressed with BW ruck work on the weekend . Competed well for the taps and was very good at collecting the ball once it hit the ground .

If compensation was say pick 15 it would be worth keeping maybe but given probably pick 4 is at stake- I don’t think we would notice like you said. Especially if they turn into a good player.

Only problem is help for waterman as shanahan and Reid develop. But if we are shite, may as well be shite with kids.

You are correct, talls with very good skills are extremely hard to find and need more years of development.
That's why WC have done very well in this space and probably set up for the next 10 years in KP spots except the ruck in our young stocks.

We have JW, A Reid, Shanahan, Livingstone, Barnett all showing some decent potential.

Archer looks a ripper, Shanahan the same and potential A grade players.
JW needs to build some more fitness, but is a B grade at worst.

Barnett needs to develop his craft in KDEF, jury still out but showing potential.
Livingstone is only just starting out, needs to build his craft and fitness, but the indigenous game showed he has some talent to work with, big year for him and where he fits into WC plans with lots of NGA players coming through.
