Dont recall proposing a trade.

Just pointing out Collingwoods interest in JW and our interest in DC. Our glut of tall forwarss and a weak ineffectual ruck division that could lose us players or discourage players coming to us.

The bigger picture.

Can see good reasons for both options.

But carry on.
Is there any credible link of Collingwood to JWill?

Haven’t seen anything anywhere. Not on BigFooty, SEN or the Age. Might have missed it if Twomey mentioned it this week.

Can anyone provide even the loosest of links?

I just watched Fred’s and Toby Whans highlights and Toby Whan Kenobi has a much nicer kicking action.

Not taking anything away from Fred he can definitely find the ball and great on both sides but his kicks tend to hang in the air a little longer.. at least from the video I watched

Oh Toby Whan is an absolute beauty and I agree with Royal Eagle that we should bid on him and hope the purples have spent their draft capital on Pickett.
Ok, ok - wishful thinking, Whan is going to be a great pick up for the Violet Crumbles.

Whan has a more penetrating kick, is a little selfish and he often try's to do too much and over cooks things ( he will learn to temper that ).

My only holdout for Fred is can he accumate by getting first hands on the ball himself.

I saw him against men and when he was in CBA and struggled to get the ball. The concerning thing is that could come down to speed or inability to read cba which is more alarming.

However, he has a spot for us as a worst case hbf since he is elite kick. And we do need an elite kicking hbf.

Fred needs to show alot more to match Murphy Reid under 18 showing. That shows you depth of last year

What is disappointing if I had to cherry pick is i wanted a zach merret/mckercher mold but fred is to slow to be that. Touch more speed and I would have said hes golden
Go watch Sam Grlj mate. Very much in that Zach Merret mould and apparently dominated the Vic Metro vs Country trial yesterday

If Oscar went and the club that missed out came to use and said, "we will give you a top 7 pick (or our R1 and F1 if we don't have a top 7 pick) for Waterman". Lions, Pies, Dogs, Port, Hawks, Swans, North, Dees would be in the mix.

Would you do it? Or more to the point, which, if any clubs would you do a deal with.
I'd have to see who is likely to be there in the draft, but I dont think pick 6/7 or equivalent bundle of picks is enough for Waterman.
We need leadership, and Waterman will still take the #1 kpd every week to make archer/Jwilliams life easier.

If there was a decent player who we thought would be easily best 22 for 5+ years included then I'd think about it a bit longer - a pick 8 + Josh Ward type scenario is what I'd be thinking

Briztoon, I’d like to introduce you to Obeanie.

I’m sure you two will get along like a house on fire.

We could just get Warner completely for free.

Why would we give up #1?
Sydney is a club id be ok considering a Jwilliams trade, offer them hawks 1st + Jwilliams + a f2? Assuming they dont get JUH or something

Take it or leave it PSD type deal lol

Anyone who knows much about rucking and has watched Archer more closely, how likely do you think it is that he could be our number 1 ruckman in the future?

There's been a bit of talk about his KPD potential but not a lot about him just being our ruckman, to me he seems decent considering hes 19, hes surpassed what I'd have expected of him in the ruck.

I'd prefer Shanahan gets that spot in the fwd line and a decent KPD may be easier to find than a long term ruckman

I think he could, but he has the body type that looks like it might struggle to put weight on, it depends on that imo.

He doesn't need to be huge. If he ends up a TDK clone, that would be massive.

He's probably just as athletic and a way better forward already.

Word is Pies keen on Jack Williams Id suggest as a Cox replacement.

So a 2nd plus Jack is about right. Baily also a chance if we trade in Cameron.

Dont recall proposing a trade.

Jack Williams and a second rounder for Cameron is what you said, which I believe is a proposed trade.

But carry on.

Josh Treacy would be one, and I'm guessing the other is Mitch Georgiades.
He(8.98) has been better than Tracey(8.80) and Georgiades(8.96). So far hes only being beaten by Sam Darcy(17.92) and Riley Thilthorpe(13.85). It ain't much but it's still impressive considering the way the team has been playing thus far. Jye Amiss has a 3.60 PR so far this year in case anyone was interested

Feels like we’ve completely miss read the direction that the AFL has been tracking since 2021. forcing turn overs, quick accurate ball movement and repeat intense pressure and speed.

Lions Mclugage, Zorko, Coleman, Zac Williams
Collingwood: Daicosx2, perryman, Sidebottom
Geelong: Atkins, Meirs Lawson
GWS: Ash, Whitfield, Kelly, Callinghan

Foot skills and athleticism has to be a priority next two drafts

Kicking accurately has been a valuable skill since football was invented. Apparently we didn't get the same memo as every other club, in every league throughout football?

Hypothetical:

Say Oscar leaves and we finish last, leaving us with picks 1 & 2.

How would we feel about:

Use pick 1 : Sharp
Trade pick 2 and a 2nd or player (JW?) for Warner
Trade Hawks pick for Leek Aleer.

I know people don’t want to trade that much for Warner, but pick 2 and a second would be brilliant. They may well ask for pick 2 and an F1. Becomes a bit more of a dilemma then, however still something worth considering. He’s 23, fully developed and in his prime. If he wants to come here, you facilitate that. Just gave to ensure we don’t get stooged.

Aleer would solve so many issues with our KPP stocks. He’s from SA, so doesn’t have the go home factor of a Victorian. He’s gone through one of/if not the best development programs in the country and is only 23. He’s be a key back for us for 10 years. And enables us to draft some more mids. Hawks 1st is fair. Only question is how much will some clowns like the Saints offer him?

Just thinking out loud.

They can ask for whatever they want but we'll be on the bottom of the ladder and thus, not obliged to give them anything, if we don't want to.
