Played out of position at AFL level though, right? If he's not on ball, that would be a contributing factor on the drop on disposals and why WAFL form hasn't been able to translate to AFL level.

He’s attending on average only 34% of CBAs in games he’s playing, for what that’s worth.

That does include the game he came on as a pretty late (not quite Bo Allan-late) sub, take that game out and it’s closer to 40%

Erasmus can't get in the team so they can't be asking for too much and WC really should be targeting Sheldrick he is class, he will be pushed out when Gulden is back too.
I wouldn't use class to describe Sheldrick.

He is a machine who gets stuck into the contest but his disposal is shaky as it gets.

In his last 3 games since he came back into the team as a genuine inside mid, which has correlated with an uptick in form (and interest). Last 3 games he’s averaging about 18D, 4CL, 7CP and 17 pressure acts from 65% TOG. Not huge numbers? But enough for a number of teams to be keeping tabs and having a look.

Erasmus has a pretty solid body of work. He’s been averaging over 30D in the WAFL, was Simpson medallist last year, came 5th in the Sandover despite missing 5 games all before he was even 21.

The issue for him has always been opportunities on ball, which have been scarce, and an inability to get into the team by playing another role.

I don’t agree with other posters who say he would be fighting for a wing/hhf role. He would have the inside run for a starting midfield spot for us. The question is and always has been what his ceiling is.

Sheldrick is the guy if we want a ball magnet although I suspect he will
be the most expensive out of the options.

Spot on beets. Prefer to pass though TBH, Swans won't let him walk for nothing. OOC or not he's got a lot more runs on the board.

In his last 4 games, which coincidently happen to be the non sub impacted games for the year

19D, 5 clearances, 7 tackles
22D, 4 clearances, 6 tackles
26D, 5 clearances, 5 tackles
21D. 7 clearances, 4 tackles

The meatball also put up 29D, 4 clearances, 4 tackles in his 6th game of AFL footy in 2023. Erasmus hasn't come close.

It's Phillips and/or Dev for mine. Phillips had 21 tackles in the VFL this week. Has gone 10, 10, 7, 7, 7, 21 in 2025.

That 34% has increased to about 65% in his last 3 games since he came back into the team as a genuine inside mid, which has correlated with an uptick in form (and interest). No it hasn’t. 56%, 44% and 38% over those three games. Equates to 34 of a possible 74 CBAs, or 46%

Sorry, you’re right. Was thinking which i spoke to later.

The CBA’s went up from next to no CBA’s in 2024 and early 25 to about 46%. And we’ve seen the uptick in form that goes along with increased opportunity.

Since the two clubs apparently don’t like dealing with each other, maybe this is the year we finally put on our big boy pants and actually use PSD pick 1 to get a player for free?
I don't get why this is - there are so so many times it works in both us and the Purple's best interests to help each other, even if it is hard to stomach for us as supporters either side.

They agree on a lot of things in an us vs East Coast mentality, I wonder why that is so ingrained from a business perspective?

Our current mids by age at end of 2025:

32- Yeo
31- Kelly
30- Hunt, Sheed
26- Graham
24- Hutchinson
23- Brockman
22- Hough, Chesser
21- Dewar, Hewett
20- Reid, Hall, Johnston
19- Allan, Davis, Gross, Grego

It’s an insanely young midfield group especially when you consider Yeo and Sheed haven’t played this year, Kelly has been phased out to HF and Graham is more pinch hitter than full time mid. Sheed, and perhaps Hunt, won’t be on the list next year

Assuming full availability our first choice midfield rotation for R1, 2026 might look something like Yeo, Reid, Hewett, Hough and Graham with Hutchinson and Dewar on the wings

That leaves Hall, Johnston, Allan, Davis, Gross, Grego and possibly Chesser if he survives the list cull waiting for their opportunity. We also likely have one, possibly two, top 5 draft picks adding to our midfield group from the draft

Robertson (24), Phillips (23), Erasmus and Sheldrick (both 22) are all still relatively young but will have all had 4+ years on an AFL list going into next year. Do any of that group become a first choice mid? If so, who are they replacing?

Their age/experience arguably puts them ahead of those next in line but they’d need to come in relatively cheap given they’re not best 22 locks. We’re also likely to need to delist someone like Chesser to create the list spot required

By all means bring one of them in but not if we have to pay anything higher than the Hawthorn R2 pick we hold. It’s why Robertson would probably be my preference given he’d likely only cost a token pick

19D, 5 clearances, 7 tackles - 84.2 DE - 77.7 Kicking Efficiency KE
22D, 4 clearances, 6 tackles 54.5 DE - 40 KE
26D, 5 clearances, 5 tackles 46.2 DE - 36.8 KE
21D. 7 4 clearances, 4 7 tackles 61.9 DE - 61.5 KE

The game against Richmond is the one game where he had decent disposal. The other games were a mess.

Erasmus has hit +20 disposals once in his entire career, back in 2023.

This year he's averaging 15 disposals, 2 tackles a game.

Been subbed off once, take that game out and it's still only 17 disposals and 2.6 tackles a game.

Definitely not worth 4 years.
Not bad numbers for low TOG%.

Averaging the same amount of disposals as Hewett with 14% less TOG.

Not sure if that’s due to a fitness thing or just the way Freo are using him.

He's averaging 15.2 touches a game in 55% game time.

If you bump that game time up to 80% he averages 22.1 touches a game. You'd be happy with that as only Liam Baker averages more touches than that per game for us, and he's at 83% game time for 22.5 touches (Erasmus at 22.9 at 83% game time)

Expensive on $ or picks.

What is expensive in picks?

A 2nd that slides to 30?

And why are we over paying pick wise if we finish last?

Clarke has been removed from trade negotiating. And as a club we should be well and truly past paying overs to maintain good relationships. That has really achieved nothing for us to date.

Pretty sure the deal didn't get done last year because the Lions wanted picks were refused to trade. Like a 2nd.

Out of contract this season so they accept the 3rd or 4th rounder or get nothing.

Pick him up as a delisted free agent, I wouldn't offer the Lions anything

I think old mate whore island said it?

If so the grain of salt is rather large.

Cheers. I certainly wouldn’t be stating it as an absolute fact then.

If Clarke isn’t doing the negotiations then who is?
