Sent back to the VFL, Ross said he asked to be dropped, apparently Wilson was 'surprised' by this statement.
cheers
All young players have skills to work on but D Wilson is an elite wing and maybe outside mid in time.
I would happily offer Hawks 1st for him.

I'll apologise in advance for my ignorance reagrding your response to my post, but why is it one or the other.
Worpel restricted free agent, costs us nothing. Hawks have said they won't hold him back so unlikely to match bid, but even if we do, its not going to be pick 2 for him.I don't understad how he dilutes our free agency comp for Oscar?
Trading in a free agent reduces the compensation you get for losing a free agent - so we wouldn't be trading pick 2 away we just wouldn't get it at all if oscar leaves and we bring in worpel

Essendon aren't getting pick 7 for Draper coming off an achilles, while also never being a top 10-15 ruck in the comp. Who's offering him silly money? At least Allen has shown he is a very good afl player when fit.

The whole premise of 2 for 6 and 7 then falls away as they aren't trading 5 and 6 for 2 and being left with only the one pick.
They aren't trading 6 + 7 for 2 anyway unless we were going to be sending the Hawks pick back with it.

We get 6 & 7 which is more likely 4 & 5 is where ESS and MEL will finish for 2 and we will have to offer Hawks 1st also and get ESS 2nd round back 22 or 23.
We draft Sharp at 1, 4 to NM for FOS, 5 draft Cumming and leaves us with 19, 22(ESS), Hawks 2nd R(30), Hawks 3rd R(48).
19 gets us D Cameron, 22 gets us T Powell from NM.

If we had any of the top 8 players alone instead of Hewett and Ginbey we would be no better, probably worse.
Yeah, was an odd example... of all our machinations, that one appears to have worked out the best. Hewett looks like a potential star and Ginbey looks like a high level talent.

I didn;t realise that so appreciate the feedback.
What compo do we think Hawks get for worpel, end of 1st/start of 2nd?
Would you be comfortabvle trading Hawks pick (Currently 14) or our first pick of the draft for Worpel, so we don't reduce the compensation for Oscar?

one reason we are on the bottom

If we kept that pick and went for best midfield talent it would have been Wardlaw

His career is not looking good between his concussions and repeat soft tissue injuries.

Getting Ginbey and Hewett was the right call in hindsight

Bar sheezel, Ashcroft maybe Weddle and Fletcher id argue that Hewett has the top5 highest ceilings from players in this draft

For anyone interested in the Wilson news.

so nothing except he is unhappy getting dropped a couple of times and subbed, see he had 30+ disposals in the VFL when he went back to play there for a couple of games.

.

Luckily for the VFL, they have Richmond as a potential beacon for a rebuild without PP's, with them improving immediately after winning the wooden spoon.
Norf are just a pick chasing basketcase.
We also got 5 wins last year.

Let’s see what happens when they cop some injuries to their stars.

And he gives a ****. If Ginbey isn't in the leadership group next year I will go outside and find a cloud to yell at.

Ginbey and Hewett was excellent work. The one time splitting worked. Like Yeo was the one time a HBF with midfield potential worked despite all the times we tried that particular move (including, funnily enough, with Ginbey).

Was told fairly early on and again when the draft happened that Hewett was the most talented player in the draft but needed some strong leadership around him to keep him focused.

We don'y have pick 2 do we? just pick 1 at the moment.
A lot of talk involving pick 2 but we still need a high profile player to leave which will hopefully trigger our compo at pick 2.
So IF that does happen, I am all for KEEPING both 1 and 2 and get Sharp and Dursma to the club.
If we can also trade in a Crouch, Steele, Worpel type and someone with a bit of dash and clean disposal we would surely be filling some very leaky holes.
Another pre-season into Harley, Hewett, Hall, Gross, Shanahan, Reid etc and maybe after 3 years of hope and disappointment we might see some improvement.

If getting Dursma in any way helps in retaining Harley then it is a no brainer. Not as though it's a risky pick.
Pick the best possible youth as we can while we can and get some guns around Harley to build a team you WANT to be playing for and being a part off.

Three years? You must have blocked some stuff out.
