Lions are going after Draper because the thoughts are McInerny is cooked, right?

McInerny is a pretty important part of that club, must be some strong doubts on him going forward.
26HO, 23 disposals, 13 clearances in the VFL two days ago reads pretty well…

We could probably give them pick 30 and 46 for points and land the big O and Neale. Add Dev for some spice.

I would argue that ruck isn't actually the biggest problem or the solution.

When we had the best tap ruckman in the competition we often lost the clearance count (admittedly not 4-1). The opposition basically conceded the tap but targeted both NN's position and sweated on our best inside mids. They'd often steal the tap and get the clearance. Where we would win out was owning the area between centre and CHB where we would grab the hack clearance kick and rebound.

The biggest problem we have is that we don't have the mids to steal the opposition taps or to tackle their inside beasts.
That's what we need.
Mids, mids and more (better) mids.
This is a really good point and I’ve glad you raised it.
You’re spot on. That did happen, at times NN’s brilliance was mitigated.

However right now our issue is the opposite, right? It’s the worst of both worlds.

However our midfield is developing, we’ve got some good young cattle. What we don’t have is even a C grade ruck. They’re having to work so damn hard to get table scraps.

I think a ruck upgrade moves the needle more than what’s available on the experienced midfield market barring any sudden market shifts.

Im sorry but the players who have played so far look bang average for Richmond. Shanahan is leaps and bounds above any of the KPPs they took so far. Trainor looks a bit mid sized. Smillie looks a big worry fitness wise as does Lalor to the point im concerned about his long term future in the game. 4 hamstring injuries in 10 months is insane

I think they fluffed it a bit. What was the point in racking up pick 10 and 12 for Shai Bolton only for pick 30 to be a better player then what you chose? It feels to me they just dumped Shai Bolton for a bunch of middling picks as opposed to top ones
Yeah at the time I thought Richmond took some risks. It might turn out fine, but its a fine line with injury with Lalor, trainor and the other guy. Smillie had slid a bit so his pick was a bit iffy too

Yeeeeah he says a lot of things though.

Most of it is on the nose these days.

Much like his Ninja Turtle namesake, Rucci peaked in the 1990s.

I do recall laying into him about Judd, he was one of the first to call pretty strongly he was out.

Sadly he was right

I can't imagine this Rucci fella being that in the know these days, the man's ancient
He does have a role at the Power I think. So the NWM he might have some insight.

Ralphy rolling with Cats coming hard for Marshall. Clubs are telling Wilke to name his own price and saints will discuss if Steele is tradable

Rucci co host also saying Crows have put a big offer in for Ah Chee.

I just don't see how saints with all their salary cap improve by letting contracted players leave .

The whole point of paying overs in free agency is to add a quality player free from draft capital.

bringing in De Koning doesn't work if they lose marshall , windhager or Wilkie.

It just shuffling the deck chairs

Steelei can understand as I want him 😂

Some have the theory of they are pretty much pick purchasing. Sign a younger free agent ruck and then trade the older ruck for a first round pick.

The others I agree, SOS might be creating a few issues at the saints

They didn’t though.

A bunch of senior players all asked to leave at the same time, and they fought incredibly hard to keep all of them.

They extracted maximum value, no disagreement there, but this concept that Richmond saw the cliff and moved their stars on is simply untrue. They tried to retain every player they lost last offseason.

Did well to pivot into getting value mode, that’s for sure.
Careful Badge. I tried arguing the exactly same thing a while ago and got shot down by people thinking the tigers were geniouses

Reidy’s out of contract at the end of the year isn’t he? Surely he looks for opportunity elsewhere. He’s already in Perth. He’s dominant at WAFL level. He’s seen what Meek has achieved coming through a same pathway.

He doesn’t appear to be a UFA so presumably we’d have to trade for him or get him via PSD. Looks a perfect opportunity to offer a late draft pick with a veiled PSD threat. We could (should?) be de-listing all of Jamieson, Barnett and Livingstone, so we’ll need to be bringing a ruck or 2 in.

Personally I find the first away game of the 2020 hub impacted season being the turning point. That's where I REALLY thought we were going to be in for some pain and had a cliff coming.

It was the game Red Bull Rowell and his Fold Coast buddy's absolutely destroyed and bullied our hero's, which included Tim Kelly, Shuey, Yeo, Gaff, JK, Naitanui, McGovern etc etc.

Made our senior players look second rate and the real "rot" set in soon after in the hubs.

That was when the Jetta disconnect started and somehow looked like Simpson hated/scapegoat him, and then things just got worse and worse as the seasons went on.

That 2020 season ended with us losing a home elimination final against an undermanned Magpies team in front of a sold out Optus crowd. Kelly had 12 disposals 🚽

Spot on. Have it on good authority the players spat the dummy having to hub away for 7 weeks and the attitude was really bad.

Wasn't about talent and everything about attitude which maligned the team for the last 4 and a half years as we know.

They have to do something with their salary cap 🤷

If big clubs are going to raid the smaller clubs you have to do something to square the ledger .
