Think getting involved with the NAS trade to South Australia could be worth it. And would be hilarious to watch saints bid on every academy player in the draft with pick 2.

Crows in: NWM

Crows out: Draper, 18, future first

Eagles in: Draper, pick 44

Eagles out: pick 2

Saints: in: pick 2, pick 18, future first

Saints out: NWM, pick 44

I don't think Freo would want to trade Reidy to us so they might make things difficult. They would probably prefer an east coast trade destination.

But if we could get him for say a 2nd round pick and sell BW for a 3rd rounder, or sell BW to somebody to upgrade our 3rd rounder to a 2nd rounder then i could live with that small expenditure of draft capital. We would be trading out a forward/part time ruckman for a genuine ruckman which would suit us. We have too many tall forwards as it is and BW won't get a game with us as a pure forward in the long run.

BW has some value as a forward and part time ruckman to some clubs but not really for us. You could say that BW and Reidy are of comparable value generally but Reidy would be much more valuable to us and BW would be worth more to other clubs than he is worth to us.

The propaganda machine is already rolling Rana. Expect an offer of 5 + 6 for 1 + Hawks 1R.

I still don’t get how that is beneficial at all. Drop down one very good pick to benefit a later, worse pick with arguably same movement distance.

If it brought a second rounder into pick 6, then ok.

We aren’t even getting more picks, so what is the point?

Where is it being reported that Essendon are swooning over Duursma?
My co-worker is a Bombers fan and he sometimes puts on the Dons pod. The ITK cohost said he speaks to Xavier and Bombers recruiting staff a lot and he said can’t say too much but they plan on all 3 brothers to play together and he doesn’t believe that’s a North.

Who knows what Matt Clarke sees as reasonable. I’d certainly counter with 1 and 19 for 5 and 6 as long as we take Sharp at 2 and two of Lindsay, Cumming and Schubert are there at 5. Could we push them even harder if they are that desperate for him? I don’t know.

Expect him to tell the world what he thinks is reasonable right before trade period.

Jon Ralph OTC just said “Liam Ryan has circumstances that may see him want to move East”? Linked to Bombers, Blues, Saints. Probably full of shit but:
Ryan + 1 for 5 + 6
Ryan for Wilson or Boxshall
Ryan and 2R for TDK compo (pick 10)
Too much smoke now for it not to happen. With three teams bidding you’d hope we drive a hard deal for a contracted player.

But I think it will be Ryan for Tsatas or Hobbs with some picks thrown in to even it out.

As in you don’t understand why upgrading pick 14 or 20 to pick 6 makes sense? It’s potentially:

Schubert vs Curtin
Cumming vs Dalton
Lindsay vs Farrow

Obviously here the cost is Duursma for one of the above but our 2R is going to end up above 30 if we keep it.

If we’re giving Cripps another year we don’t have list spots for more picks. I’d say we’ll be trying to bundle those later picks into an earlier pick.

Not sure about the podcast although Schofield blatantly reveals WCE knowledge so his comments could carry weight but yes Duursma to Bombers and this trade have been on the cards for a while.

There’s smoke but Ralph is a dickhead and Cal also linked Ryan to Bombers last year and nothing came of it. I’d love to see Liam traded and finish his career in a more competitive team but with his flag won I can’t see why he’d want to leave Perth for Blues, Bombers or Saints. GCS would seem the obvious play for everyone here.

Yeah the Bombers fans love this bloke and the info he provides. But yeah who knows, I heard the snippet and he seemed genuine.

They can offer that but we shouldnt accept it.

Throw in 22 as well and we would consider it.

We then hold 3 2nds and a 3rd to trade up.

End up withpicks 2, 5, 6, say 10 and keep 19. Trade 22 and 34.

So again, you pay penalty somewhere else, to gain somewhere else. At best it’s a draw while others prioritise the most elite talent first because after all, that is harder to get.

No downgrading. Package things up if possible but that’s it.

If duursma was west Australian, place would be torn down at a thought of such downgrades.

We need a little more clarity as to where the Hawks pick lands but you’re right, they’re coming to us for a specific player who happens to be the pick 1 favourite.

Don’t mind your suggestion at all. 1 and Ryan for 5, 6 would be my preference. Then Hawks 1R (13),21,31,47 for 7 and Alex Davies.

2,5,6,7 and Davies.

If they want 1 I am not doing that deal.

1 and our 2nd for 5 6.

The difference between Hawks first and our second might only be one spot but could be 7 spots if they are knocked out week one of finals.

Leaves us with 2 5 6 Hawks 1st.

Ess duusma
WC Lindsay
Rich CDT
Rich shubert
WC cumming
WC sharp

Hawks 1 farrow

Well they aren’t going to give us a free upgrade are they? Will depend on how highly both clubs rate Duursma and also a teens pick vs pick 6. I suspect with his athleticism WCE will be right into Duursma.

Why would we need a 2nd round pick . Rucks of his ilk go at 3rd rounders onwards especially uncontracted

Reidy would be a text book ruck merry go round players where 2nd and 3rd string rucks find a new home for teams wanting to increase ruck depth.

Our draw card is he will have the chance to be first ruck at afl level .

Bailey Williams has way more value . Contracted and closing in on 100 afl games. BW had also shown he can play well at afl level having a few very good games .
