If Cameron deal is true, we truly have become so irrelevant. That sort of PR breeds, really disappointing. Holds us in really poor shape for October/November. It’s going to be bargain bin seconds for us.

The thought of it is probaly why a few of their players want out.

Would we trade Ryan for Steele?
The Wines, Worpol, Steele and Crouch’s of the world are becoming obsolete. You can’t be an out and out pig anymore, you need guys who can play 2/3 different roles. I know we need someone who just wins it, and wins it many times (30), but we need to tread lightly.

Rubbish. He was making his manager earn his commission. Pies tried to stiff him. We came in with the $$$. Pies balked. The exact outcome he was holding our for.

Sheezel amd McKercher were mid 20's touches in their first years, FOS is not even close though. He's a level below.

Just don't see his + skill at AFL level. Duursma for example, despite his flaws has clear + AFL level attributes.
Yes off a HBF. FOS isn’t sitting in the backline seagulling. Fair enough to see it differently but I think he’ll be in the top 20 players in the comp in 3-4 years. Far better prospect than Duursma IMO.

A guy that didn’t really want to leave his current club except that they weren’t paying him enough, and his current club started paying him enough so he stayed.

Devastating, don’t know how we come back from that.

Rubbish. Don't let the NWM talk spook ya.

Contested clearance beasts

Macrae
Rowell
Green
Cripps
Libba
Newcombe
Petracca
Butters
Taranto
Neale
serong

Every team's needs one. We have Yeo, but we don't!!!

I would love Steele right now in our midfield. It would allow Harley to be Harley.

wouldn't pick 5 and 6 be getting the 9th and 10th rated players in the draft after bids ?

Just because we cant bid on those players doesn't mean we don't get shafted on acquiring the best rated talent .

I have Annable at 1, Uwland at 2 (pending form) and Patterson at 5. 3 is sharp, 4 is lindsay, 6 is duursma, 7 is Greeves. I'll put out my ranking list of 20 a little later on in the year.

What Cameron deal? The one where he re signed for his own club in the premiership window?

Maybe marsh then? Not exactly a tall forward at 191. I just think they're not taking mids with the 2 picks they have, unless they can get Lindsay.

At this stage I'd have them taking Lindsay and Greeves. Maybe Cumming depending on form over the rest of the year as he offers something different from their other young mids.

1 & 30 for 5+6 ✅

1 & F2nd for 5+6 ✅

1 & 19 for 5+6 ❌
1 & 12 1st for 5+6 ❌

Something about having the first pick of night 2 is really valuable, I don't want to let our 2nd rounder go. Could have a juicy slider sitting right there without the means to get them if we trade it away, or another team might throw a dumb offer at us for it.

That said, we'd also have just used 2, 5, 6, & "12" on night one. Hawks pick is still the pick you can use on a slider I guess 🤔

If what is believed to be true the offer I would accept is 1, 12 and 19 for 5,6 +F1

Bulltish.

You definitely need a good one - preferably more than one.

The Dockers midfield is built around 2 of them and they are both in the top 10 mids in the comp.

Wines and Steele have simply peaked and are no longer the players they were.

Crouch was never an elite player and Worpel never was or will be close to one.

I might be wrong but i wonder if St Kilda will have much credibility with the managers of the players they are chasing. Because they are just chasing too many high value players. One of first things a player manager of a high value player would ask when an offer is tabled to change clubs is what are they willing to put up (in terms of trade capital) to get the deal done. They don't want to waste their time with clubs who are just flying a kite. And if St Kilda were to be asked that question what would they say? They would have absolutely no idea what trade capital they are going to have to play with so many players possibly coming and going.

....that Harley-Saints story isn't a real thing.

Literally no other journos (like actual proper rumour hungry click merchant scumbags, not Jobe's dad Tim) have a sniff of it. If they did, it would be all over the joint by now.

Fox Footy are the only ones who ran with it outside of SEN (Watson's radio show is on SEN...) and Fox can't even get the story right:

So don't stress about him going to the bloody Saints next year. 😅

Bombers need points and still get 2 picks in before their NGA's at least.

We get 3 first round live picks in the top 6/7 and move draft capital into having 2 first rounders next year. 1 likely for a top tier mid (or an amazing key forward) and another a little lower down for either a high quality mid or one of two amazing ruck talents.

3 live picks, 2 nga (Evans and Williams) and 1 FS (Banfield)

That's enough for me this year.

It is highly unlikely the bombers are going to miraculously jump up to anything higher than 12th next year. They may even continue as they are and finish bottom 4.

I really hope the players we draft at 1 and 2 are guns, but everything I'm reading suggests they're not.

Taking out the talented academy players you have:
CDT who is a ruckman/fwd hyped up on potential and will take a long time to develop

Sharp who I'd like to have, but appears to be slow and limited in upside

Duursma to join his family of plodders without a defined position.

Lindsay who is a half back, albeit a potentially elite one.

A bunch of key talls we don't need

Greaves probably fits our needs but isn't an elite talent either.

I just don't think it's worth going twice at the top of this draft when we can throw that pick around to get someone really good who can bridge the gap between the young players and the vets.

We know we're getting 3-4 NGA and F/S players so list spots might be tight and I'm not a huge fan of taking a heap of picks to what is broadly described as an average draft.
Though I see your point I don't fully agree with this, IMO ( not that it is worth much) there is elite talent at the top end of the draft, it's just the draft isn't as deep, and few of them are already spoken for with the academies , it just really drops off after the first round . I think with WC having pick 1 and 2 ( provided WC get band 1) it puts WC in a very good bargaining position with both GC and Bris. I.e WC doesn't bid on Uwland for example , and we give them 2 for their first 3 picks and Sam Flanders. Dyson Sharp's ceiling might not be quite as high as some might suggest but his floor is still better than the ceiling of half the first round last year and is exactly the type of player WC need in the midfield. Josh Lindsay has elite footy IQ and is easily the best kick of the ball in this draft, he is another type of player that WC need. Ollie Greaves is a Josh Smillie 2.0 but quicker and has a bigger tank. WC have some very good options this year.

I must say I agree with the FOS idea of trading for a player that's been in the system for a year and can already see the development.
He was already high on our target list last year.
Draft picks are 50% likely too succeed, if an opportunity arises to trade for a player of FOS quality you do it ever day.
He has been paying mostly on the wing in his first year and he will be a balanced mid in a couple of years.
Would have been the clear No 1 draft choice if not for a few injuries early last year.
He would be at least equal to Cumming or better.

It’s a big call, for all his hype, fos didn’t have a great u18 year and didn’t show a lot in terms of ball winning. I know there were some injuries, but That’s two years without matching his hype.

I’m certainly not writing him off, but he has a lot to prove still. I’d even argue duursma u18 year was the better of the two.

Again, not saying he sucks or won’t be a gun. But him becoming elite is conjecture for now.

In regards to the draft I don’t get why people want to trade down. 1, 2, hawks pick (say 12) and potential to upgrade said pick, is a chance to get some high end talent in. We don’t need to split this year, just take the top guys on the board.
