2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

*Trade 13, 34, 38 to GC for 7
*Trade the future 2nd that GWS want for Aleer to get Aleer
*Go to the draft with 1,2,7,41,53,58
*Draft either Duursma, Patterson or Robey with 1 and 2
*get Taylor or Lindsay with 7 and Rodriguez with 41
* 53 and 58 for Williams and banfield
I would have next years best 23 looking like this
B: Hough, Edwards, Starcivich
HB: Ginbey, Aleer, Yeo
C: Duursma, Roberson, Allen
HF: Baker, Shanahan, Hutchinson
F: Reid, Waterman, Brockman
R: Flynn, Reid, McCarthy
Int: Hewitt, Dewar, Graham, Duggan, then either Gross, grego, maric or a draft pick

You seem to have us Leek-Aleering Tylar Young, instead picking up....Leek Aleer.

Pretty sure they club ruled out interest in Aleer - likely on account of the money St. Kilda had on the table for the guy (talk of $700k+)....

So you’d have us leave Young swinging in the breeze like the Saints did with Aleer. It was a totally dick move by St Kilda and I’d hope we’re better than that - it’s the sort of action that can easily come back to haunt a club in future negotiations

I don’t have any issue with your draft strategy other than a preference for Sharp over Robey

I'd rather give Dev an extended run at it than spend 13 on Rowbottom.
Dont think we are in the position to just guess Dev will have a big impact. Lets get the proven commodity in.

A investment in Rowbottom is a investment in Reid/Hewett more then anythiing. Rowbottoms stoppage work creates space for others.

Curtin had some injury issues that held him back this season, others have mentioned something without specifics but say expect a return to better fitness next year. Maybe a bit of OP or a niggle?

Now Rodriguez sliding out past 50 has me stumped. Touted as a top 5 selection 12 months ago. Anyone have a clue what happened there?

He had a half decent championships, still gets plenty of ball.
If you're a mid and not in that top bracket, people are going to prefer to draft the best SF, or the best KPD, or the best utility, or the best outsider, rather than the "7th best midfielder". So you can be the 7th best mid in the draft and be in no man's land, waiting for someone to take a punt that you can be a starting CBD onballer.

I still think he will go mid-20s.

Rowbottom available for a first rounder apparently. I'd happily part ways with pick 13 if we could convince him to join.
Why do you think he's available? I'd suggest that Swans offered him up in a trade but the other club said, "Nah, trade him for a pick and give us that pick".

He's over rated IMO. Plays the same role Sharp would play. I still think we're in the box seat for #7 or #8. Plus a good chance we're into Sharp.

We’ll know if anyone is bidding late. If there are players we rate higher than the NGAs/FS then you take them, simple as that.
Yes, I can see us taking a KP player late if we have a list spot or pick.
Depending on our draft if its Duursma, Sharp, Cumming then I would be using an extra pick to get someone like S Ainsworth, C Curtin if his injuries that have held him back this year are not career issues.

THats because Matt Clarke hasnt done anything well or successful?

If I say Matt Clarke is terrible, we have no evidence to dispute that.... which is a concern
I think Obeanie1 was more referring to the use of the word 'cuck' etc.
Which sounds more like a shitpost from a 13 year old, rather than something a functioning adult says in a discussion.

Do we carry an extra senior list spot to take a slider ? Seems like moving cripps to the rookie list is an obvious play. The back up plan would be to add dev to main list via psd if we dont end up selecting a player?

If we get to the tail end of the draft, have 2 list spots remaining, and all of Banfield, Williams, Rodriguez & Swaddling are still on the board, who do we take? Do we roll the dice that Banfield and Williams last long enough to be taken as Cat b rookies?
Feel like Freo takes Fred and possibly Curtin if they're available rounds 2/3. I'd love to roll the dice if our kids look like getting through to the rookie list.

Feel like Fred is seriously underrated, swaddling I'm no as convinced by, is he damaging enough with his mountain of possessions?

I'm told Willem Duursma is pretty keen to get to WCE, and Harley has reached out telling him he's keen to have him over. They still have a pretty good relationship.

Also this Bailey Humphrey to Melbourne move is still very much possible even if the noise has died on it a little. This is good news for us if it happens given it means one of GC's picks will be gettable.
Would be staggered if they trade Humphrey's.

If there’s any evidence needed that the trade period is too long, you’ve got campaigners spending their Sunday morning arguing that we need to get James Rowbottom to the club.

Go outside, mow the lawn, do literally anything else, surely. James Rowbottom. **** me. James Rowbottom.
