2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

Just saw this on The Age.

Surely not?

Campbell Chesser and All-Australian forward Liam Ryan requested trades to Carlton and St Kilda, respectively. Close friend Ryan’s impending exit could lead to Tyler Brockman exploring his options as well. – Marc McGowan

I reckon that’s absolute bullshit, but would happily hold a club over a barrel for him if they want him for massive overs.

One of Sharp, Cummings , Greeves or Robey should still be available at that Gold Coast pick.
This is very true, but Greeves is widely considered a pick in the teens now. Farrow would be less of a reach than Greeves.

I'd expect Sharp, Cummings, Robey to all be off the board at pick 11 (GC pick).

Didn't brockman want to come home ?

let's not pretend the the biggest reason for ryan leaving isn't the ridiculous contract he was offered

Dumb question, has a club ever bid on an academy kid from another club and got him successfully ?

Would 2 + 17 for 5 + 6

Essesndon get to jump in front of Richmond for Robey and pick 17 for simpkin

Dovaston and Grlj are tearing apart the combine, I love Dovaston in particular.

Would you guys rather trade up to 6 or trade up to both the Suns teens picks whilst also keeping the Hawthorn pick?

Let’s say it’s Sharp, Robey or Cumming at 6 vs any 3 of these guys - Dovaston, NHH, Farrow, Grlj, Barker, O.Taylor, Emmett, Schubert, Marsh…

I guess the risk is if at least one of the first 4 guys I mentioned aren’t available, it isn’t nearly as exciting.

Will largely come down to list spots i guess. I doubt that Taylor, Schubert, Dovaston or Farrow are there at our Hawks pick anyway.

Any updates on how our NGAs are going with testing?

At what point do we just decide to keep Allen. I posted this in the draft board but this whole situation feels like a sideways move now, if not a loss

One thing not getting Starcevich cheap does is hurt the compensation in actuality.

If we get pick 2 to give up pick 22 + 37 for Starcevich and Robertson like Brisbane fans seem to think then we basically end up with pick 12 in a compromised draft for Allen which isnt much of a needle mover for us.

In a way Lions are proposing we give up

Allen + pick 22 + pick 37 for pick CDT

Not so much of a win after that... Its too sideways. Just match Allen, take Starcevich as a free agent and take Robertson in the PSD and move on

I cant believe we are on the final day of the draft combine and all we have heard is the 2km time trial results. Are all the journos busy obsessing about B Smith and Caros outrage?
Rumours are the rest of the draftees are still waiting for Dyson Sharp to finish his 2km time trial before the rest of the combine continues

While I love that some players are more athletic than others, this is only useful for outside players.
If WC are serious about rebuilding our midfield they should be taking the 2 best mids of the draft as long as they test decent this is our biggest need.
Sharp, Cumming and then worry about outside players testing, Duursma, Grilj, Dovaston.

We are drafting 3 SF NGA players and have some B grade players in Brockman, Dewar, Newton, Champion already on the list. The least need on our list is SF.
Grilj while he has all the athletic traits he is outside the top range, top 10 of players based on his championships which were underwhelming.

If push comes to shove, we don't take Allen back, but we reneg on Starcevich. The problem we have is we have allegedly offered a half back stopper A grade mid or KPF $900k money. We don't hold the negotiating power. We are going to have to give up #22. If they want #37 for Dev, we say "no thanks".

Is this whole post/theory based on what Lions fans think they’re getting out of us for Starcevich?
