I see us making 1 ND selection, 2 rookie draft selections and leaving a spot open for ssp.

You can’t draft f/s under the rule again. I read the afl code on it and from memory is specifically worded when not previously drafted, or words to that effect.

When the SSP was introduced, the rules were you had to have nominated for the draft or been on a list previously.

Waterman has nominated for the draft. So I'm guessing that we could commit to putting him on the SSP (with his agreement) and he could withdraw from the rookie draft. If he was keen to get to us (or any club) he could just put a prohibitive price on his head in the ND so he wouldn't be picked.

But there is always the chance that the AFL has changed the rules without making it public. Which would make sense, because otherwise someone like Jeremy Cameron

this year could have got to Geelong via the method I just outlined (as clubs can now pay rookies as much as they want). So it might be that players have to go through the RD before being eligible for the SSP, which would make sense.

Can't see a bid on him so thinking we let him slide and pick him up late. Am expecting we only use 1 pick at the ND and pick up Ugle (not clear if we can use a rookie pick on him if he is not bid on) along with AN Other who is likely to be a rookie. That would leave a spot open for a mid season swoop.

Twomey believes we have held discussions with the Suns on their pick 27. Well Cal, shows how close a picture you have on O'Brien and his team. That pick has already gone to the Cats!! I cannot see us having any sort of happy deal with Steven Wells!

The draft this year will really feel like waking up at Rabbi Yaakov Perlow's home in Brooklyn on Christmas morning

I think he meant that we talked with GC about 27 before they traded it to Geelong.

On Ugle, when reading it I just assumed that we would only take him if we could put him on the category b list. I'm not sure if we can do that with a bid after 41, or how that works really.

I agree that our remaining list spots will be:

1. Senior List - ND only pick
2. Senior or Rookie list - RD 1st pick
3. Senior or Rookie list - RD 2nd pick or SSP (maybe Cox)
4. Rookie list - vacant for SSP or mid-season draft
5. Cat B - Ugle or vacant
6. Cat B - vacant
