I think he meant that we talked with GC about 27 before they traded it to Geelong.

On Ugle, when reading it I just assumed that we would only take him if we could put him on the category b list. I'm not sure if we can do that with a bid after 41, or how that works really.

I agree that our remaining list spots will be:

1. Senior List - ND only pick
2. Senior or Rookie list - RD 1st pick
3. Senior or Rookie list - RD 2nd pick or SSP (maybe Cox)
4. Rookie list - vacant for SSP or mid-season draft
5. Cat B - Ugle or vacant
6. Cat B - vacant

I would be happy to pick Ugle up as a Cat B rookie. I have no idea if that is possible. If yes, then we take 1 ND, 2 Rookies and 1 Cat B (Ugle)

The Dockers. Even still now. My Pop is Dockers but my Dad is Eagles so we are really divided when it comes to who we support.

We must take one pick.

A second pickin the main draft is basically pick 1 in the rookie draft, so why not use a min of two picks? Especially if a player on your list is there to take.

Yes you save $80k in the cap and only offer a one year deal not two. Hell we might be pinching ourselves with what slides.

Saw him play in the WA all stars matches, had a very good 2nd game. Like his coach said in that piece, he is great in space. Silky mover, covers the ground easily and built like a pencil stick. Has pace/nice kick.

Areas to improve are finding ways to stay involved in the game more, can drift in and out. Tackling and pressure game has room for improvement.
And obviously getting stronger.

Pretty sure if you nominate a NGA rookie and they are not picked up in either draft you can cat B them.

Yeah, he's low possession but high impact. He was very good in the 2nd game!

Knows how to get a handball receive to get into space and then take off. Nice kick too.
His possessions tend to make things happen, great project player. I think he'll likely be a Cat B.

The 2 under 25 is incredibly damning given their exposed form. Reminds me of Hawthorn’s drop off in that area, and even they were able to snag Mitchell and O’Meara and draft Worpel cheaply.

I say this every year but it rarely seems to happen.

Think the club prefers to have more flexibility with the list normally and don't appear to be all that keen on getting in "early" on the rookie draft with a late pick.



All cost saving and predetermined i guess. Instead we miss out on the first 13 odd selections in the rookie draft.

National draft (all rounds) is tomorrow arvo/evening.

If the cats want to pay up prior, let them do it I say. We can't really afford to blink and pay (relative) overs pre-draft.

Pick 17 could end up 21/22 on draft night. Plus the saints are looking to move up the order (so pick 21 will be on the table as part of it) - 21 could end up 27 or so - right in the zone for one of our future 2nds (but still a '1st rounder' for compliance purposes).

I guess the risk is a player that a team loves slides to their pick, but on the opposite hand we can wait to see if there is actually a player we want available at the pick we will get...

But a future second for a (live) pick in the 20s seems like a good deal. Be interesting to see the value of future picks on the night.
