He's being shopped from the sounds of it.
He’d be the first guy we shopped in 25 years.

The son of a dual premiership player and it sounds like a popular man around the club?

She was as disappointed as was me. She was bang on about Alec before he was traded to the Bombers.

Well Alec wasn’t traded to the Bombers for a start…

Brander couldn't be more gone. Only thing that could possibly keep him here, is if they're going to trial him again as a KPD to add cover for next season.

If Gov is out for 12 months, changes our approach for off season. We'll have to go after a kpd. Schlegson wafl potentially.

maybe he’s proved that he’s not key position material on the basis of contested marking ability, presence, physicality, leading patterns and set shot accuracy?
Well, he was fed to the wolves in his first game ever, which was replacing JK in a bad loss at the SCG. Even copped a bit of criticism from Simmo in the presser, as I recall.

I remember a poster on here stating that prior to signing his last contract there push a push from he and his manager to train and play as a KPF/KPD. I believe the same poster mentioned it at the start of the year also.

I'm not saying he's guaranteed to be a successful KPF. Hell, he might even fail. That's fine, at least he and WCE supporters won't die wondering.

What we will always wonder about is why the hell, in a draft where we were desperate for midfielders, did we take the highest rated KPF in the draft - a position we did not need at all at the time - and proceed to train him as a winger/midfielder, simply to get him in the senior side as there was no place up forward for him to play due to JK and JD filling those positions? There were a number of mentions on this over various preseasons the past few years about how highly skilled and talented Brander is and that we needed to fit him in the team somewhere.

8 picks later Allen was still available and we jumped at it because we always draft 'best available', regardless of our positional needs. This in turn caused us to miss out on Kelly and then sell the farm to get him 2 years later, which may have set our future development back even further.

Absolutely garbage list management.

Brander may leave and amount to nothing, or he may go to a team that puts him in the position he played in juniors and he may thrive. We'll never know because apart from his first season (in a WAFL team constantly getting thumped) he was thrown all over the place and ended up playing the ****ing 'Masten' role of all things...

Must’ve been doing something very rotten behind the scenes for us to want to trade out Waterman with years remaining on his contract. Doesn’t make sense

Makes no sense at all for a number of reasons.

But we can’t doubt the word of a random BigFooty poster who insists he heard it from a player’s aunt.

Brander must have asked for a trade. He was named as an emergency, so he mustn't be injured. But can't get a game in the firsts, even with Kennedy out? Nah... doesn't add up. IMHO, no way he isn't being shopped around.

On the same logic, I call bullshit on the Waterman rumor -- if he was being shopped around, I can't imagine he'd be given a game this week.

I agree with your conclusion but I don’t see what Kennedy being out has to do with it. Brander’s played wing, inside mid and defence at various times this year but not forward.

On Brander, we seriously couldn't have mucked up his development any worse imo

Drafted as a key fwd but for lack of opportunity being trained up as a mid. But even as a mid, in the WAFL side his good games seem to have been as an inside the centre square mid. The games he gets at AFL level are as a defensive winger.

Then even gets thrown down back.

If he's asked out really can't blame him, and tbh, it's really the best for all parties at this point. Especially if we can turn him into an actual midfielder
