Jones and Reid weren’t SPP’s were they? I thought they were just recruited as rookies.

Must admit I’m still not 100% across how it all works.

We went into season 2020 with a spare spot on the list so we had the option of adding a SPP to the list before the cut off date in March OR you can wait till mid season draft to pick a player. But seeing as Venables is un-able to play the year we were able to pick two players up in total and opted to pick them up now.

Seeing as Willie is no doubt able to play the year out we might be able to apply for a third.

One of the truly great days on BigFooty when Gaff spurned Norf and stayed here with the good guys. Both the Norf fans had gone so hard for weeks about how good he was and how he was theirs, then he stays with the Premiers instead and it’s all “covert operations” this and “he’s not even that good” that.

Sad we miss out on another potential day like that but happy we’ve kept a 300 game player.

The only part of the story quoting anyone from the club actually contradicts the headline

Coach Adam Simpson said the club wouldn't push their star wingman for an answer.

"Gaffy's pretty patient, he's never in a rush," Simpson told AFL.com.au this week.


"Last time it took until the day before the B&F, after the Grand Final, we're patient on Andrew, we'll put him under no pressure.

"He sacrificed a lot to stay with us and he's part of our leadership group and part of our fabric, we love him. Whatever time he needs, it's all good."

I read this and wasn't sure where to post it.

Would be a sad way to go out, but if lists are reduced next year, it places a premium on spots and we need to ensure the right balance between older veterans/prime age/development players.

If he doesn't play on, I hope we can send him off as a 2x Premiership player.

Interesting point if we go to the draft this year and there are only 20 odd live picks taken outside of father/sons and academy players. Our complete lack of involvement until later in the draft isn't necessarily a huge thing for us.

If we do move to a smaller squad can definitely see vardy, kennedy and schofield not having a place for next season.

I don't understand your post?

Mini rebuild? what is this assessment based on?

In terms of having less presence in the first part of the draft, I would have thought not having picks would have been a good thing.

Would also potentially see us drop brayshaw, anus, foley, treacy, moneill, watson, hutchings, venables.

10-11 off the list.

There is talk of total list sizes of 38.

We'd still be stacked for talls. with my work schedule i havent been able to watch juniors the last 2-3 years like i used to. Anyone got any midfielders / half forwards they think will be around the mark.

If they drop total list sizes to 38 could see a lot of teams cutting and redrafting their own players and only having 1-2 live picks.

Schofield, Kennedy, Hurn and Jetta are all high chances to finish up this year.
