No but he would be a good back up till Redden comes to an end, and there are always injuries. IIRC we went for him a few years ago.

Would love Rivers. ❤
That's the problem . Would Anderson come to a club to be a back up ?

He is probably still best 22 for a lot of teams just not ours .

Essendon need tough on ballers but not another sub 180cm one .

I'm calling bullshit . Redden 2018 was his best year at west coast and it's way better than anything Anderson has ever produced . Redden had even better years at Brisbane

Anderson best season avarage 20 disposal 11 contested 5.5 tackles 3.6 clearances .
  • He has had 2 seasons at about this output
Redden has had 6 seasons better than this and 2 seasons just below Anderson's best

Redden has been the far superior player not even close

Before you start calling comments pretty immature do some research and get your facts right .

Good for you and your stats book. Damn lies and statistics they say!

Well the club was keen to get him three years ago and sure he's no Matt Crouch breaking stats records but he impacts games and does the tough team roles. Our midfield lack aggression, Anderson brings that and more.

Agree he's not aone of the top elite midfielder hence rating him around the 5th or 6th mid / hff. But Im also being realistic in who we could afford to target both pick / player swap wise and our salary cap constraints And finally he fits the age and needs list requirement.

Right now if fit Anderson would be in our side. He would be ahead of Ah chee, Ainsworth, and J Jones.

Don't get salty because you were wrong .

I highly doubt Anderson would be playing for the same salary as ainsworth ah chee and JJ. He probably gets played more than all 3 combined .

I highly doubt norf let Anderson go anyway . Their midfield next year will be Higgins 33 cunnington 30 zeibull 30 .

Going forward they will probably acquire someone like brad crouch through FA

Norf will need Anderson Dumont and say crouch doing the heavy lifting while LDU boner hayden and whoever they aquire with 2 first rounders this year are developing .

Norf list is a bit shit but they have got a few developing talls already in place but they are heavily reliant on older players .

They will more likely cut the older guys than guys like Anderson

Simpkin, Thomas and Taylor are all potential stars, just need to develop further. Simpkin is already one of their best players.

Anderson seems younger than he is. If he was still in his early 20s it’d be a fair call to say he could potentially be a better player than Redden, but he’s already older than Redden was when he came to WC

Didn’t provide the list to suggest WC missed them. Simply pointed out that many of the better performing mids this weekend were taken outside of the first round.

You can go through drafts retrospectively and look at who we took, but that doesn’t disprove the point that it’s not just about what picks you have.

So if a team passes over a midfielder twice they must be sh*t?

Who said anything about “displacing our midfielders”? Fact is we have five midfielders as depth, and only three on the main list.

We’re extremely lucky to have durable mids because two long term injuries to on ballers and you’d almost write the season off.

The guys I listed were just those who’d done well this weekend, and any of them would place our squad in a stronger position - you haven’t proven anything.

edit - Also Bolton is no less a mid than Ah Chee is a forward. Plays mid at VFL level and contested most centre bounces against North. 3 centre clearances, 10 CP.

Taylor I thought I saw in the middle on Thursday night but I probably had him mixed up with Hall

“Many”. Yeah “many”. Actually to be honest, it isn’t many. Not in relation to how many players have been drafted during the time and in relation how many midfielders there are on afl list. Conservatively 10 at any one time, that’s 180. Again whichever you look at it, it’s a small group of great midfielders that were drafted late.

If a midfielder was passed over twice, it means that it’s not obvious. Right? So how will one know how they will turn out? Perhaps go and see a clairvoyant.

One game in midfield doesn’t make one a midfielder. Nor was he drafted as a midfielder. But let’s take ur argument, it kinda means it’s ok to draft non midfielders and try to convert them. Another thing our recruiters get accused of doing.

Surely the club has enough cash to affort a clairvoyant on staff?

Starcevich has always looked a little bit meh whenever I’ve seen them play. Feels like he’d be behind Nelson and Duggan. Unless he’s been played out of position and is more a natural mid

Big body and when he gets the ball its usually involving something like a strong overhead mark, but he just can't find the football and never has been able to find it.

Zack Williams is out of contract and a RFA.

He could be a great get to replace Jetta down back and really add some pace.

The only problem would be cost as our salary cap is quite tight.
I think for the amount you'd have to spend to get him, the only way to justify that investment would be to play him in the middle.

Some of his work through the midfield closer to the end of last season was stunning.

Guys should bring in Daniel Rioli? He's at a cheap price at the moment? Might take a second rounder but worth it because our small fwd are so thin.

So reported Lion's have a war chest to chase a key forward.

Somewhat surprised about that. They have built a nice list. They need to be careful they don't buy one and lose others they want to keep.

Lions have already been discussing with North this week over their price on B.Brown - media release of the 'war chest' available is to keep pressure on the Kangaroos and remind them that Brisbane has other options available that can be explored. Brisbane willing to offer two first round picks (one this year, one next year) but want an agreement in place quickly so they can move on to other targets and renewals.

JJ from the Bulldogs is one fella I would love at the Eagles. His run would do wonders from our back half. Bring him back home.

JJ is 29 next year. By the time he learns the gameplan he will be slowing down. Would end up being a high cost for very little reward.

Great player, right age profile and would undoubtedly improve the squad. Not a chance of him fitting within our salary cap however unless someone else on significant money leaves the club first.
