I'm one of those who really backed his promotion.

Looks like he may have fooled us again. Oh well, Howe is there now and I guess we could always bring back...*gulp* Jesse White.

Can't we promote Cox due to Swan?

I really hope we can promote Cox. If Gault isn't going to offer anything up forward and hes our second ruck, then we need to find other options. Cox to me is a no brainer

As atm we are playing a full time ruck and a forward as a back up ruck who doesn't even kick goals.

Had a lot of injuries and in terms of kpp/rucks is still young. Has been no worse than Grundy and Witts who are supposed to be actual ruckmen. He needs 3-4 weeks straight.

He is not going to miraculously become a decent player though.

Particularly when he isn't even capable at VFL level.

Generally even in first year KPP's you can see the talent despite their failings. If you believe Gault has AFL quality talent you must evaluate players very differently to me.

Gault has zero upside.. he's shown nothing for a long time now. You can tell already he's soft, doesn;t have the talent or competitive nature to be a decent AFL key forward. Very lucky to still be on the list... incredibly lucky to ever get senior games. This will be his last year on our list.

I said as much on here last year and had him down as a definite delist.

Can't fathom how he is actually getting games in the seniors.

I think he has talent, yes. Running out of time to prove he deserves to stay on a list though, being a rookie in his last season its promotion next year or bust. I dont see any harm in giving him a solid run as a forward/ruck for the next 2-3 weeks. He has more upside than White, and provides more flexibility than Witts. Cox may well pass him later in the season but for the time being its worth giving him time to get his confidence. Possibly his last chance but I think it should be a decent chance. Everybody was shit in round one against the Swans so its hard to single him out on that performance.

We will have to agree to disagree then. Because I don't see this upside. He has shown nothing to suggest he can get anywhere near Whites level, so don't know how you can suggest he has more upside.

The harm of playing him for another 2-3 weeks is losing games. I reckon that's a pretty massive harm.

as a forward last night he was not much , but when he rucked in the centre at least he got his hands on it

He has talent but lacks the mentality of a footballer. There was a moment last night where the ball was kicked into 50 to Gault who was one out. The kick was to his advantage but he didn't even raise his bloody arms. He seems a step behind mentally.

Surprised nobody else has mentioned this. He literally shits himself from anywhere outside 30m kicking for goal. Had two opportunities from 50 last night, which any KPF worth their salt should be able to kick distance wise. First one he couldn't bring himself to take the shot and second didn't even make the distance.

At this point Cox would be better value as a forward. Still has his deficiencies, but at least he attacks the ball with some ferocity.

He took a few big contested marks, one running back with the flight of the ball, he was kicking bags of goals. His form certainly warranted selection. His current form doesn't. Simple. The only thing that complicates it s you justifying your bigfooty existence with an 'I told you so' moment.

I feel really bad for him, he is good when we are playing fast forward movement but can't find space nor hang on to his marks when we are being played defensively.
I was one supporting the upgrade, haven't written him off but it is going to be difficult going forward if we get Elliott back and even Goldsack.
