people need to realise Cory has been out of the game for a long time, if we want his forward pressure at seasons end, we need to keep playing him now.

Ridiculous writing him off but last quarter was sub-standard and he can’t go to Perth.

no we need to give him 6 games in the vfl in a row in the mids. get him to find the ball and playing football again at an easier level and then lift him up. not throw him in the deep end after two years out.people need to realise Cory has been out of the game for a long time, if we want his forward pressure at seasons end, we need to keep playing him now.
Agree that he needs to string some VFL games together. Scott seems to push his favourites back into the team before they are ready which can have a negative effect on their confidence.
After that he needs to perform fairly well otherwise he should be cut, cant afford to carry all these small injury prone players.
He’s been injured for half of his 3 year career due to a multitude of setbacks. I’d say he’s definitely injury prone. Would like to see him get some form. Preferably in the twos for now, nearly two years out is a long time. Seems to be working for Scott Selwood?I don’t think Cory is injury prone though. Played most games in his debut season 2015, then half of 2016 before hurting his foot, then of course was out until early 2017, hurt his foot again so was out for the rest of 2017. But I’m not sure of any injuries besides that.
Agree that we can’t carry too many injury prone players though, McCarthy the main one at the moment off the top of my head.
I would also send him back to the VFL to put together a good run of games to build his match fitness & his pressure & getting his hands on the ball.
Yeah you would think Scoot is experienced enough to just bring in if fit, but he has always come back through the 2s, which is absolutely the right way to go mind you, look at the impact he had last year when picked after getting some good match touch before hand. He’s been injured for half of his 3 year career due to a multitude of setbacks. No way is he Smedts this kid is a gun and plays the right way. May have been derailed by injury though, hopefully he comes back and turns into a player.
Smedts was just as good at the same stage.
Agreed Smedts showed a lot in his early days.
The problem as a smaller player is if you dont build size and your skills dont improve you get overtaken.
Gregson showed a lot in 2015, but its 2018 and all he is now is a 21yo 175cm player who has some potential but has been injured for 2 years.
Small players like that are a dime a dozen so holding onto injury prone ones for too long isnt worth it as we saw with Cowan.

Actually in his first year he was decent. He's probably one of a few that need to build their form in the VFL, but have been rushed in the firsts either out of blind faith or lack of ready alternatives. But performances like yesterday mean even a Murdoch will come in and be more reliable. This is Smedts 2.0.
I get that some of you guys love the story of him coming back and all, but he's nowhere near good enough to be close to our best 25-28, let alone our best 22. Never was. He did some shocking turnovers yesterday (63% DE) and didn't put enough forward pressure on. When you're his size you need to be lightning quick or deadly around goals. He's neither and his field kicking is deplorable at times.
You continue to amaze me catempire.Ridiculous writing him off but last quarter was sub-standard and he can’t go to Perth.
