For quite some time now we have had an uncanny ability to make an ordinary player look extraordinary. Ben Graham, Nathan Thompson, Ken McGregor, Aaron Edwards, Russell Robertson and now Corey Jones have all dined out on us over the last few years, despite struggling against just about every other team.

We are very good for a sagging self esteem.

Jones literally bent us over and raped us untill it just didn't hurt any more!

There is always one player from every team that we dont match up on that tears us a new one!
It's extremely frustrating!

It's not so much the defenders as getting flogged in the middle.

Sure, we lack a couple of small defenders who are good, tough man on man players who also have a bit of height and size, but when the ball is coming in that easily, defenders have run to help offensively, then your defense is spead eagled because some clown turns the ball over upfield, you're going to get hurt.

Wake up son - you're a DUD!!!!!!!!!!

Go plumb some drains that's all you're good for and sorry you will be remebered as the bloke from Tigerland that wore No. 46

.

That's a shocking post, Ghost. I had to check twice that it was you posting it, to be honest. Jones was almost AA last year. He kicked 50. Thompson is a gun. Did Edwards even play against Richmond last year?

Nathan Thompson
-2003, kicked 5 v Richmond, averaged 2.3 for the season. The only game he got 10 marks that year.
-2005, kicked 5 v Richmond, averaged 2.3 for the season.

Russell Robertson
-2006, kicked 4.4 v Richmond, averaged 1.8 for the season. Had 22 disposals, averaged <11 for the season. 15 marks, the only game he got more than 7 marks that year.

Corey Jones
-2008, kicked 7 v Richmond, after averaging 1.9 for his previous 23 games (2007-08).

None of these blokes are elite - they're just ordinary players. Jones and Robbo would be in the best half-dozen or so players at their respective clubs, butnone would fit into the Top 50 in the league, yet seem to have had their stature lifted against Richmond at various times.

Jones had a relatively poor first half to the 2007 season. Ask anyone who had him in their Dreamteam. Finished out of the top 5 in the NM B&F and managed to score Brownlow votes in only two games. I'm sure Richmond played a significant role in running him into a bit of form for the second half of the year.

Edwards first game v Richmond was for the Eagles in 2005. He took 8 marks, had 11 kicks, kicked 2.2 (should've been 4.0) in the first half and was primarily responsible for the Eagles scooting off to a sizeable lead. Richmond finished with a wet sail but lost by 2 points. Edwards then failed to score a single goal in any of the next three games (and had only 13 kicks in total) for the Eagles before being dropped, never to reappear in their colors. We essentially made him a trivia question that day.

The umps must have done that on saturday night because 4.1 from free kicks is bullshit.
If Richo got that every week he would kick 8 on a daily basis.
