COVID's over. Those protesters in America aren't social distancing and that was the worst thing ever 2 weeks ago and would kill people but no one saying anything about it during these ones so the danger has passed there to.
Not so much the danger has passed as they’re protesting against a bigger danger.

670 seats from 70 carriages.

I guess they figured it we can make a sub-standard system even more wretched, people won't use it.

Clearly this is just a cost saving measure from the state government... how convenient was the "urgent repair" excuse on the diesel trains!, but what exactly was it that needed urgent repair!

they think the public are stupid, (which to some degree they are).

I couldn't believe you still have diesel metro trains. Are there any plans to discover the benefits of electric traction?
Seaford/Tonsley (Flinders) lines are electrified. The Gawler line is being electrified. There are no immediate plans to electrify the remainder of the the lines.

Adelaide is a car-dominated city. The train system won't grow considerably until a city loop is eventually built. Anyway, I digress...
Or congestion charging for the CBD. Or toll roads. Whichever party is isn't in power locally cynically says 'Eviilllll!' and so we remain with poorer roads and sub-standard public transport. Yah!

I thought protesting calmly without masksr was literally going to kill people alone? These guys are protesting/rioting leaning on top of each other so how is that not going to also kill people due to COVID? Does the virus only infect people based on what they are protesting? It's been very interesting to read/watch media reporting on the riots and not hear one utterance that these people are risking everyones health being out doing it?

Wow, no wonder the system has no capacity.

Outside of a peak hour on the way out of town at night the trains are generally dead. They could easily have more room during these times if they ran longer trains as well. I always cringe when I see on the Grange/Outer harbour line the 1 carriage to Grange. Will be interesting what privatising does to the time table, one hopes it increases services during peak hours.

Electrifying the existing network isn't a cheap proposition, I think you need to replace all the sleepers to concrete, install all the power, have the power capacity and redundancy etc. What would be good is an underground loop of the train in the cbd.

We could have business operating very successfully in this state the way we are going, why risk a full lockdown again?

Do you do business in SA? We can't operate very successfully if all the clients and all the money is interstate and overseas. Thanks to decades of shite leadership big business doesn't give a * about SA.

Arrest them. Punishment? They are to watch the following animation on repeat until it gets through their thick skulls.

Where are the other 22m deaths to late May? Given about 60m people die a year, that shows 1.95m deaths to late May.

I known Malaria is involved in a lot more deaths than that graphic shows.

This little story dropped in tthe middle of a story about NSW infrastructure spend. Expect Crown, Sky and others to pressure other state governments.

Meanwhile, late night negotiations between The Star and the government have resulted in the casino being allowed to open from tomorrow, with more than 500 people able to spread across the venue's multiple outlets.

The Myer store in Perth reopened recently and I took a shortcut through there yesterday. What made me laugh was they had one door for entry and another for exit on the other side of a set of eight doors - I get they want to do the separation thing, but by funneling people through two doors instead of eight I wonder if that's what they'll achieve.

I saw Andrew and his wife and new bub yesterday (outside Myer as it happens) and I was going to ask him how the new MG stood up to the trip over, but I like to leave celebrities alone when I see them minding their own business. He's quite tall in real life.

I was lucky enough to meet Andrew once thanks to RussellEbertHandball. Really good guy and is right into his beloved Port Adelaide.
