Just like the last lockdown here where we had to wear masks for an extra week - just until Friday at this stage this time...

- The three-day lockdown in the Perth and Peel regions will end at 12:01 am Tuesday
- Interim restrictions, including mandatory mask-wearing, will be implemented for four days
- Western Australia recorded no local transmission overnight
If I remember correctly, it was never mandatory to wear masks in SA at all except for in medical clinics. That's why it's so baffling that we need to wear masks while we walk to our seats at the Oval.

A ban on all flights from India could be put in place within days under a suite of options the Australian government is considering in response to the country’s worsening COVID-19 outbreak.

The National Security Committee of Cabinet will on Tuesday discuss temporarily halting all repatriation flights out of India, which would prevent thousands of Australians – including cricketers in the Indian Premier League – from getting home.

Dont know about anybody else but if I were returning to quarantine from O/S

spacious tent,
port-a-loo and portable shower, comfortable inflatable mattress,
internet access and
Uber eats access

would be far more palatable than being stuck in a medi-hotel looking at 4 walls, even if there was a small security fence surrounding my digs.. sounds cheaper and , better for sanity.

I wonder if anyone has thought of asking people what they prefer.

So far, 1,937,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been delivered across Australia.

This is ABC data, that seems to indicate only 3000 doses delivered yesterday. Tiny.

The airport you are required to wear a mask from the moment you enter the terminal until you leave the terminal at your destination.

Less than half of people aged over 50 are willing to get the AstraZeneca vaccine despite it being recommended by Australia’s health officials, according to the latest Guardian Essential poll which found confidence in the rollout strategy is waning.

The survey of 1,090 respondents, taken amid a fresh political furore over hotel quarantine and after weeks of confusion about the government’s vaccine rollout, has also tracked a significant increase in those who said they would never get vaccinated against Covid-19, up from 12% to 16% over the past six weeks.

Despite the government’s attempts to reassure the public that the vaccination strategy remains safe after changed health advice for the AstraZeneca jab, one in six people can now be described as vaccine hesitant – the highest proportion since data on this measure was first recorded in August last year.

Another 42% of people said they wouldn’t get vaccinated right away, while about the same proportion said that they would get vaccinated “as soon as possible”, or have already been vaccinated.

Those most likely to get the vaccine immediately were men (53%) and those aged over 55, however for this group willingness had dropped from 60% to 55% since March.

Americans who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will be able to visit the European Union this summer, Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said in an interview with The New York Times on Sunday.

"The Americans, as far as I can see, use European Medicines Agency-approved vaccines," von der Leyen said, according to the Times report. "This will enable free movement and the travel to the European Union."

How is this safe? Has the EU reached herd immunity?

The EU is suing AstraZeneca over it's failure to supply as per it's contract. This is the same EU in which several members suspended AZ jabs for fear of clotting and of which one member, namely Denmark, has banned AZ altogether. It is the same EU that blocked an AZ vaccine shipment to Australia some months ago.

The world awaits a response from the WHO which has been touting cooperation between States in the vaccine roll out.

Perhaps AZ should consider moving it's entire operation to the UK and telling the EU to get stuffed?

This extract from the link above is interesting and may be at the crux of the EU action,
But European Commission officials had previously said they believed the company was acting against the spirit of the contract, pointing to AstraZeneca's successful delivering to the United Kingdom while failing to meet its targets for the bloc.

ROFL at the Australian IPL players, wanting the govt to arrange them a private charter home.

At least a handful have had the sense to try and escape India asap under their own steam, but the rest want to finish the tournament/money grab, and then get flown home!

fu** off campaigners.

Maybe they just need the govt approval to return, but they should be able to afford their own personal Lear Jets.

Incredible sense of entitlement by those cricketers.

Just the other day, in the midst of the horror India are currently experiencing, some of those same guys had socail media posts of themselves surfing, playing pool volleyball etc. It's all about them and how rich or famous they are.

So out of touch with reality.

Join the very end of the line and hope you can get home at some point in time like everyone else over there is going to have to do.

So WA Premier stating that there is obviously an issue with covid19 test results in people coming from India (ie are their pre flight testing / tests dodgy?)

“ Indefinite” Or 3 days not sure but way too many moving parts involving too many cases for something not to go wrong. 14 day pause with a negative test plus vaccination and quarantine OS before quarantine here would be an ok idea.

Or there’s a wacky variant muddying the existing metrics.

It’s all a gigantic, unregulated science experiment at the moment.

Good to know that if something like H7N9 mutates to be more contagious then we’ll be living through a real-life ‘The Stand’-era.
