If I have the virus and I go out to a cafe and are caught doing so I will be arrested. That is a fact.

I will concede there is an inconsistency in an asymptomatic individual being allow back in the workforce but not allowed into a cafe. I guess political expediency is at the heart of that situation. Then again things are probably different in WA as you do not have the high level of community infection that we have in the east.

In the Eastern States effective contact tracing has all but gone by the wayside as there is too much infection to track individuals who have tested positive and that being the case a positive person could probably go to a restaurant and not get caught.

I was not allowing for the fact that you are in WA where contact tracing and tracking is still possible.

Yes I am very depressed about being able to go for a nice walk in suburbia at lunch, not pay for parking, not pay for fuel, exercise in the home gym to my hearts content and do some gardening in my lunch breaks and listen to music as loud as I want while I work, then head out as I otherwise would to socialize with mates after work.

I mean, fu** I wish I was back in my workplace surrounded by diversity and WHS posters listening to the admin girls loudly talk about MAFS.

Besides, it's about time people were allowed to be introverted if they want to instead of dealing with insufferable people who need to be the centre of attention at all times.

Update on this front actually. He joined the Navy a while back (lol).

He stayed over for a couple of days over the NY break, one shower a day, in and out in 10 minutes. The armed forces has changed him, man.
Insert Navy joke here

How much must someone hate their friends and home life to want to be forced into a shitty office in the city every day!

Not too much privacy on board the boat.

When you first came to Australia, where did you make friends? Do you have any friends now that you made through work?
Sport and motorcycling.

And yes I do, of course.

But I would still be friends with them if we didn’t have to go into work. Though the friends I have via common interests are more fun than my work friends.

I would have made friends in other ways if I wasn’t having to head into work. I’d have more time for clubs and to meet people near me.

I'll repeat. People who want to go in, can do so. Those who don't can WFH. It isn't a hard concept. Working in an office is generally a shitty way to source your friends anyway.

As some who struggles a lot with socialising, social anxiety, and the concept of 'fitting in' (believe it or not!), my social abilities are absolutely better off because of going to work and other, socially healthy, not *headed people, also being forced to go to work with me.

I did have struggles 'fitting in' school, at sports clubs, musical crowds, nerds and lan nights, etc, despite 'common interests' on the surface. In a general sense I always struggles no matter what subculture I was around. People are mostly all the same whether they kick a footy or roll a 20 sided dice to me.

I used to sit at pubs and watch two strangers strike it up and get matey with one another and wonder what the * the cheat is to unlock that?

Head of the TGA John Skerritt said Novavax had been approved as a two-dose vaccine for the primary course of vaccination, with doses three weeks apart. The government has ordered 51 million doses of the vaccine. I know there is interest in the potential for Novavax being used as a booster or even an adolescence paediatric dose … as we have with all vaccines, as soon as we get the data, we will review it as an absolute top priority," he said. Professor Skerritt said he was aware there were some people who had been waiting for the vaccine's approval before getting a jab, and hoped that this would lead to an even further increase in the overall vaccination rate.

No one is thinking about healthcare or, police, or something when they remark about the public service cushy jobs.

Probably more like, working at the office of deaths and marriages, or the RTA, etc.

No, not at all. I was more pointing out how amazing it can be for people with very comfortable working conditions really don't understand how good they've got it by comparison.

Yeah, it’s not the people in other healthcare jobs that are the problem.

The people getting fair work conditions aren’t the ones stopping you getting them.

But those who are the problem love that those who aren’t have this sh*t fight constantly.
I'll just say I'm not complaining about my working situation. I knew exactly what I was getting into when I made the decision to go to uni for 6 years to get this job in the first place.
There's a real lack of awareness among many with respect to working and employment conditions. I would postulate that many are oblivious to what is beneath them and rather only look at the "better" side of things as a reference point with respect to what they believe they deserve.

I like that this is on the chaser but is actually just a legit, non satirical headline 😂
Yep. When the chaser can't even find room for satire you know things have reached peak BS.

There's me thinking kids of today missed on on the fun times we had as kids

I got the perfect training video for them. Probably gonna be closer to reality for a few of them

Once again I'm not arguing for or against lockdowns v 100,000 cases from an economic standpoint (I am a small business owner and I know both suck equally). It's about the RIGHT to open your business if you choose to do so.

And Mark McGowan's political views are no different from the CCP, he's just in Australia so there's only so far he can take it.
Generally even though I disagree with you generally I've enjoyed and appreciated your line of arguments

But if you knowingly are infected and you go out putting other people's lives at risk then you should be punished accordingly
