People still can’t see it happening.
But what’s worse, plenty support it, because they’re either scared, demoralised and/ or just worn out by it all and think life can go back to normal.
If it’s anything other than your regular vaccination record then I see it as overkill. Which this is.

Nobody is vaxxed and this “mutant super strain” has barely spread.
You mean this megadeath strain that escaped through an open door and went across the hallway?!

70% more contagious and the dudes room mates didnt even get it.

Super spreader. Mutant strain. Wear a mask to save lives

LOL

facts......trying checking them before you type

Nearly 11.5m get first Covid jabs and over 500,000 second doses in the UK

Latest figures show 17.2% of the UK population have now received their first vaccination

Observers see signs of a grand “reassessment” among people making choices they didn’t know they had.

Seems the lockdowns have been liberating for some
Its given them a break from the grind to re assess their priorities and an opportunity to get the work life balance right

Seems losing your liberties gave people the chance to finds them

But it is a fact in Australia. Nobody has been vaccinated and the airborne Ebola hasn’t spread. It’s almost as if it was a beat up.

And we're the selfish ones. This just demonstrates what the majority on this board argue. That it ain't public health concerns but people's bias that support lock downs.
If you want a better work life balance or a new line of work or better lifestyle create it for yourself.
Do not dictate to other people. Do not allow the laws and the foundations of society to be abused because your happy at home. Stay home then. What about people who have no work other health issues or not a good home environment?
It's you covid nuts who are the selfish ones. Happy to through everyone under a bus and allow the most flagrant abuse of power I've seen in my lifetime in this country out if either misplaced fear been manipulated or happy to have the benefits of locking down.

So if this new strain is so virulent, how come we are not seeing more cases cropping up in the community?

The answer involves luck, statistics and the environment, epidemiologists say.

The statistical difference is small
Catherine Bennett, the chair in epidemiology at Deakin University in Melbourne, said statistically there was not much difference between the variants in terms of infectivity.

About 11 per cent of people get infected with the normal strain of coronavirus circulating in Australia.

But with the UK variant, that number is more like 14.7 per cent.

So it’s approximately 33% more transmissible however you can count the number of infections in Victoria on one hand.

This points very much to the changes PCR testing threshold rather than luck and the environment.

Don't you

Don't you mean 3% more infectious?

It's hard to tell what's going on in UK and it's true that a large number of the people correctly infected in the UK in certain geographical areas is this new "strain" or "variant. Since this is their second winter with COVID, it could be that there is a new strain that has emerged as the peak infections and deaths was over at the end of last winter for the UK. People might be contracting it because they didn't contact the old strain, not because its more infectious.

This would put into doubt and lower the effectiveness for vaccines which were modelled on the previous strains. However if it's just a variant with 17 differences, this is not unusual for a virus to constantly change and with the help of safe and effective therapeutics, it should be easily handled by the immune system.

There are some UK analysis of geographical occurrence and a sharp increase in deaths since the end of December, that suggest coming out of lockdown may have exposed many people at once or there is evidence that it could be related to the start of vaccinations.

I will be getting lawyers involved if they try this on me.
We know Vic just extended their state of emergency until the end of this year, just in time to finish mass vaccinations.

But WA seems to keep very quiet about when our expires. Does anyone know?

“Trust the science”

Science involves falsifiable hypotheses that are tested with evidence and continually retested as more evidence emerges and conclusions can change when they no longer stand up to the evidence.

What we have here is not science. It’s a new form of religion called “scientism” where there is a priesthood (“the experts”) and a bunch of dogmas that are blindly repeated despite mountains of evidence to the contrary. Always ridiculous mental gymnastics to justify the original conclusion. Can’t be that the new mutant strain isn’t as infectious as we thought, must be these 10 other reasons.

There are also the original sin, we are all dirty/guilty and need to be make clean with baptism/vaccine. God/covid is everywhere and watching you, it will spare you if you are a true believer and follow all the rules/rituals and support the right kind of protests. Anyone who does not follow the dogmas is treated as a blasphemer and essentially removed from society.

Ours hasn't been extended yet, has to go through the upper house. They'll get it by doing dome dirty deals with (some of) the unscrupulous cross benchers but hopefully not for that long.

What are McGowan's links with the CCP? Is he signed up to the Belt & Road project the same as Andrews here in Victoria?
