i walk into store with no mask

staff: excuse me sir you need to put a mask on or leave
me: i have an exemption
staff: sorry but it's store policy, we follow our own rules and masks must be worn regardless of government exemptions or eased restrictions.
me: question
staff: yes
me: when do you think you will stop wearing your masks in this store
staff: when the government tells us we can, why.
me: gotcha

another shop

staff: sir you must wear a mask
me: i'm exempt
staff: can i see you exemption
me: no i don't need to show you
staff: but but but
me: my medical history is personal
staff: but but but i require you to show me
me: can i see your medical history then
staff: no, how dare you
me: then what makes you think you can see my medical history
staff: umm we're in a pandemic

Unbelievable. But well done for standing your ground. If people force me to do the QR code I simply take my business and $$ elsewhere, their loss.

We live in one of the best countries in the world with a great healthcare system. We should be taking advantage of this and living with so many more freedoms then we are now. I acknowledge that covid is a shocking virus but the fear around it is way over the top.
Some restrictions may be necessary, but for the most part things should be open even if the virus is spreading in the community. There is no way we would end up like the UK and parts of the US.
It's been over a year now, doctors know how to treat covid better now then they did at the start when knowledge of the virus was limited.

I too like to browbeat people trying to go about their job who have no choice in what their store or company mandates as policy.

Whatever Owen.

Hey by the way you are now a life member of this thread by virtue of number of posts made so on behalf of everyone here WELCOME. :D

Whatever Owen.

It's cringeworthy when you see people having a go at random shop assistants, as though they have any control over it. They're just minimum wage employees trying to go about their job. At least call up head office and have a go at them.

Do I get some kind of scarf like with my club membership?

It's just who is there on the day, that first one i was in the shop a few days prior and the manager of the place couldn't care less that i wasn't wearing it.

It's not about that though Owen, i've only had a few heated moments and all involved relentless attacks on me despite me saying i am exempt, one happened after a security guard let me into a store after asking this question and yet staff still thought it was required to harass me throughout the shop and this was senior members of staff.
Despite what you might think of me i don't go out and start arguments, if i get asked why i say exempt and if they then choose to keep hassling me which is a form of bullying then i will bite back.

We might and i state might send you out a voucher which you can then cash in at our superstore for a scarf/cap that used to be free which means said voucher can't be used on an item like a jumper or polo like in previous years.

Sorry, due to Covid protocols we're no longer sending out scarves. I can PM you a link to an e-scarf.

Well this is confusing. Do I get a scarf or an e-scarf? Is the cap still an option?

They can use some common sense...

God forbid in 2021 I guess

Owen walks into a random shop

"Hi Owen, can I have your wallet and all your money, its store policy"
"Oh here you go"
"Owen, can you please leave the store, ive confiscated your wallet for further review"
"Okay no problem, wow what a lovely man"

He can answer for himself. If I was exempt I wouldn't be bragging about it on a conspiracy thread.
There's no cases (if there was it wouldn't matter)

You're only upset because daddy government told you to do something. Instead of thinking for yourself and evaluating the risk, you just do it

If they told you to wear your jocks on your head, would you?

That's where we are at. Those of us with a modicum of critical thought and risk analysis comprehension are 'the bad guys'. It's truly baffling how stupid some people have got

You've got a few kangaroos running around in your top paddock.
'There's no cases'- how are you not banned??

Serious question: if the new strain is so virulent, why are the hotel quarantine workers allowed to come and go as their shifts start and finish? They should pay them squillions and let them live there, and supplies could be dropped off

What is the dumbest Covid rule you've seen? Obviously it's a long and illustrious list, but here are two contenders.

  • Playing cricket last week after rain. Sun came out, humidity about 100%. Disgusting. I wanted to get the tiger snakes moving sideways a bit, so rubbed the ball on my forehead to shine. Umpire saw this and quickly put a stop. "Can't do that", he said, and got the little spray bottle on sanitiser and gave the ball a wipe. I said, "but my hands are fairly sweaty too, and I think it's the same sweat". Just looked at me dumbfounded.
  • A mate from cricket works for the DSE. Mainly going into the bush and clearing fire trails. Being a government department, they are at the forefront of stupid rules. When there is two of them in the car, the passenger has to sit in the diagonal back seat to the driver. Science backed evidence for this i'm sure.
I said last year that one of the dumbest rules here in Melbourne, because it was totally counter-intuitive and contradicted the social distancing, was the curfew and supermarkets closing at 8 pm, including them starting to usher people out at 7:30. To state the obvious, this meant that people were cramming in together before closing. It was so fk'n stewpitt it makes me head hurt
