I believe lockdowns work. They just need to be implemented quickly and done properly, which didn't happen, except perhaps in a few asian countries.

If you are after something juicier, i don't think the covid vaccines are being used to sterilise/kill people. Not that it isn't possible, it happened with hpv vaccines in india fairly recently.

fair enough

so my genius friend - you are right all drugs and Vaccines have side effects.

But BluE’s insistence that permanent genetic changes occur with mRNA was debunked - you can thank me later.

So now you don’t have to worry that you’ll wake after the jab with a third nostril.
I dub you, the Black Knight
You've had both arms and legs cut off but you keep declaring victory

There's an argument to be made that public service, public health, police, pensioners etc should have their pay frozen for a long time given how they have been both secure but also paid throughout lockdowns where people who work either casual or for themselves/commission have had to eat thoughts and prayers and suck it up.
Surely Gerry Hervey could chip in from his free money ?

Lockdowns work in the same manner that I can kill a moth if I run over it with my car.

The force being used isnt matching the risk or the amount of force required really
And no matter how many moths you run over, one will always find way back. But you can keep running them over with your car, hoping it'll be the last one.

Especially young people. They face very little threat from the virus directly, they wear the same public cost as everyone else, carry a much higher percentage of insecure work and almost all of them aren't on a pension or carrying a bulk of wealth in their super funds.

Yet those that do are the ones who face the biggest threat from the virus, they are the ones being most taken care of in lockdowns. They are the ones who can most afford to put their hand in their pocket to pay for it.

It won't surprise me to read the audit after this is all done showing young people having the most breakups, lost jobs, lost homes, lost lives to suicide and the longest running burden of the cost.
How does that make sense? These people worked throughout lockdown? Are you saying everyone should work with no pay to pay those that don't?
Just replaces one injustice with another.
Rest of your post is true. Reason lockdowns are such an ott drastically stupid method

Why is that hypocritical ?
There isnt enough vax in the country for me
ProMo didnt put the order in
If you really want the vaccine just go to your GP/vaccine outlet and ask politely and persuasively... you will get it, stop having 2 bob each way HD.

I said that those who were least impacted by the lockdowns should wear most of the cost, I suggested a pay freeze as being equal to those who lost their jobs - it's not even close to fair but it's a start

Anyone who supports lockdowns but not is financially impacted should be forced out of their job and it given to someone who didn't support them and were. However, we don't live in an ideal world

Public servants in many cases earn a lower salary than what can be earned private, the flip side of this is job security gain. They shouldn't be given a salary freeze imo. Loopholes should be closed for the top 1%. People want to tax them ridiculous % but that does nothing when they have loopholes to not pay tax anyway. Close those, that's your start (PS, it'll never happen. Our politicians are in bed with these people)

Worth noting however that salaried staff in SA haven't seen a payrise since 2019 anyway. Probably had a freeze irrelevant to covid

Maybe the super funds of the retirees should be garnished, they hold the bulk of the private wealth and were essentially the only people at risk from the virus while they carried no social risk as their primary downside was not being able to travel.

Again, this isn't a serious suggestion. The main point of this is to highlight that the young have suffered the most to protect the old.

I don't think anyone could dispute that and they'll be paying the bill off for decades too.

I think it will be worse than that.

I am expecting the vaccinations around the world to be complete in time for the new variants to be circulating and they will decide it's all too hard to keep the world closed while trying to get ahead they will swing the doors open again.

This will come after a campaign telling people how small the chance of them dying is, that will be true, but they will be fighting the perception in the community that it's 100x or more higher than reality.

Covid-19 will become endemic and part of the seasonal cycle, for most people they will feel like they caught the flu, for some people they will have a cold and say they had covid. It will just be part of us.
