This reminds me the advice my partner received over the phone when she was covid positive: it’s better not to breast feed your 9 month old baby for risk of passing on the virus.

The two new positive cases dined at the restaurant on December 21 before travelling into southern NSW where they learned of the outbreak and got tested before returning home.

And it doesn't stop the vic media from alarming headlines nor the public from charging the testing stations out of fear and stupidity.

Now let me play devil's advocate and assume this is msm style Armageddon.
Australia were never going to be ground 0
We have 25 million spread over the size of the US
We live in big blocks and don't do a lot of apartment living
We commute by car and pt peak hour crush is only in Melbourne and Sydney
Our weather is warm and mild in winter. (Our major outbreak in Melbourne where I live and coincidentally had the harshest restrictions of anywhere in the world has 5 mill is our most dense city and has a cold damp winter. We were always going to cop any outbreak.

Add in the fact of a 99% survival rate and we basically had nothing to worry about. Just take public health steps and put in the pandemic response plan updated last year.
Instead our state premiers and bureaucracy are drunk on power while the feds do jack shit

Imagine hating on people going interstate at xmas to see family/friends they havent seen all year. Selfish campaigners. These morons are willing to die in a ditch over their zero Covid strategy, which was never feasible nor sustainable. Victoria will probably have another lockdown now, and they'll blame people who wanted to see their loved ones interstate for the first time in a year rather than question the overarching strategy. Serious question, do you actually believe the numbers out of China? What is it like 4000 dead at the start of the year and nothing since?

It is a very interesting question, as is WTF was really going on in Wuhan when we saw people apparently collapsing dead in the street?

If we didn't have the dorky hawk posting here maybe these questions wouldn't get asked. So I think when some posters start attacking dorky, think first that what he is saying is a reflection of what seemingly many in the community are saying, and posting a considered answer is good practice when replying to what others might say.

It's very easy to make COVID 19 disappear, if you want it to. All you have to do is dial back the PCR test replications to 25 or below. You won't be able to detect a positive case. Instead you might have a nasty cold that goes through the community, or even influenza might make a return.

You might have hospitisations of elderly, vulnerable or those with serious comorbidities, but you have up to date knowledge on how to treat and your total death numbers are no different for any other year. Exactly the same as other countries that apparently have many positive tests for COVID.

But you haven't locked down the Country (except for a necessary piece of theatre if you want your Country to be strong when others become weak, in Wuhan initially) and let this cold naturally spread, industries and the economy haven't been destroyed and herd immunity developed before a vaccine is even thought of or developed.
