Do people know the difference between say N95 mask and a surgical mask?

A surgical mask is a bit like say telling someone instead of a seatbelt, if you dont have one, just tie a piece of string between you and your car do to keep you safe

Reality is the N95 mask would be helpful. A G String around your mouth, not so much

Most people only wearing them because the government ordered them too, sad thing is these same people are going to wear them for at least the next 2 years and they don't even know it. Most think that once the christmas crowds are gone the masks indoors will go, do i have some news for them.

Hmmm, What will it take for healthy people to stop going out to be tested for something they don't have.
It's at a point where u simply cannot believe what is being told on the news. Surely people are not that dumb and this is just flat out fear propoganda?

If the news didn't report and fearmonger would we even know that Covid-19 still exists? or ever existed? I think we'll just all pass it off as just a bad flu.

I'll repeat my motto ' STAY OFF THE GRID '

don't get tested, don't sign in,

If you get the sniffles just ride it out like you have always done.

Why people are getting tested and risking lockdowns, border closures, 2 weeks isolation etc in the process is beyond me, it's those people who are ruining it for everyone. You would think after 10 months or so people would've worked it out but no, here we are in december and they are still charging for the testing stations out of pure panic.

Sure but people are riding it out by going to Bunnings, the Leagues Club, having coffee with friends, going to work, catching trains and buses, going to clubs, Coles and Woolworths, in other words what they normally do and spreading the virus around everywhere.

So, we have done that forever, no one gave a shit in 2019 if anyone was sick and remember this saying " yep there is a bit going around lately hahahaha " , virus' are here forever dude, please don't tell me your one of those who only thinks illness and death surfaced for the first time ever in 2020.

I was sick 3 weeks ago, yep still got out and about, oh look no cases surfaced as a result, funny that.

Well I’m pleased to hear that you know that viruses have been around forever, so how then do you explain your ignorance about them?

No ignorance, just don't worry about them nor am i scared of them.

You on the other hand sound like your petrified who like dorkie and those on the GD and SRP boards run for cover over 1 case of the sniffles after not giving two shits in 2019 and don't even say you did because you didn't nor did you isolate for 2 weeks when you had the sniffles.

Good news is it looks like the NSW sniffles are going to die in the arse but that didn't stop the vic, wa, tas and qld governments from shitting their pants and overreacting as usual and ruining peoples christmas plans.

Anybody happen to know the false positive rates for the PCR tests?

If NSW tested 40k people and got back 8 'positives', do the math.

The PCR tests could be 99.99% accurate and still come back with four false positives from 40k tests.

Why isn't this being talked about?

How do they test for brand new strains so quickly? Seems odd that it goes from unknown/new to 'ah yep, you definitely have it' in a matter of hours/days?

Also saw something re PCR thresholds that they test up to 40 but above 25 and the virus is dead and cannot be transmitted. How many 'positive cases' are stemming from 25+?

I'm not claiming to be knowlegable on either of these questions. Genuinely curious if people know?

As I thought. You don’t know the first thing about viruses. Viruses like the common cold and influenza have been around long enough for most people to have some level of immunity or to have some vaccine available to them. When a new virus suddenly turns up it’s a good idea to treat it as a threat until you know what you’re dealing with. I don’t see any problem with how Covid 19 has been dealt with so far. If it had had a higher mortality rate people would have been screaming at governments to have done more to stop it spreading.

If my birthday candle was 10,000 times the size itd be a inferno too, but im personally not going to call in a waterbomber everytime someone gives me a birthday cake because it might end up 10,000 times the size if I dont blow it out

Ill assess the candle, decide on ways to prevent it from becoming a inferno and act accordingly. Id expect our government to do the same, but I guess not

Like how they’ve assessed it in America?

But we're a year in and it doesn't so...
We’re a year in so what.
In terms of medical research that’s nothing.
Once there’s an effective vaccine that can boost the resistance of people vulnerable to the virus then I would expect things to get back to normal.
