The coronavirus pandemic has sharpened focus on the harms caused by the dissemination of false information, with the internet variously peddling false cures, denialism and rampant speculation about who might have caused outbreaks in particular areas.

Between March and October, Facebook and Instagram removed more than 12 million pieces of misinformation and displayed warnings on 167 million pieces of content.
A Facebook spokesman said the group had a clear policy on vaccine misinformation to remove false claims, including conspiracy theories.

You have to be trolling here. The suppression and smearing of anyone going against the lockdown/vaccine/masks narrative has been a sorry sight this year. Nobel prize winners and leading experts have been shadow-banned or outright censored by social media companies that have crowned themselves as arbiters of 'truth'.

Narrowing of speech and thought never ends well. The Age of Enlightenment showed that for centuries, but we seem determine to end it this year.

Recently flew into an Eastern European country where the local language is written in Cyrillic.

Had hoped that the madness would not have made its way here, a place where most people above 30 can't even speak English.

Saw a few queues outside of stores, including a queue in front of a McDonalds (where I had walked to use the free wifi).

Only three people allowed in store at a time. Everybody else to queue outside. One person leaves store, another walks in.

Not just McDonalds. All stores with a public shopfront (so far as I can tell).

You don't have to wear a mask outside but most people seem to wear them when indoors.

Funny how the pcr test don't detect any particular virus, but this new mutation has magically been detected out of thin air.

Exactly. There was an expert analysis done in the UK an it's not a new strain, which would mean at least one of the spike proteins had changed, also meaning vaccine obsolete. However its a new variant which happens all the time as the virus mutates and can be tracked with genome tracing.

The expert said it's a complete fallacy to say this variant is more contagious as PCR testing does not measure infection or how contagious the variant is.

Did we need extra fear tactics as the other were wearing off?

Three months ago I resigned as an economist in the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance to protest against disproportionate public health measures by Daniel Andrews that had led to a police state. Information has since become available that makes these policies even less justified.

As I have written previously, this pandemic is not the Spanish flu. Data is now telling us that it is not even in the league of the Hong Kong flu.

Fortunately for the Swedes, their policy is led by arguably the world’s best epidemiologist, Anders Tegnell. He followed the standard approach found in all official pandemic plans, including in Australia. Tegnell did not impose coercive lockdowns or close borders. And no masks, no quarantines. He tried to shield the elderly while flattening the curve by slowing the spread of the virus.

That is a myth propagated by some drunk with power, feel the need for control rather than follow scientific evidence. WHO even say lockdowns won't stop it spreading. NZ had far tougher lockdowns, with schools, business, takeaways closed than WA who have a similar population and tough boarders. WA didn't close schools, most businesses, takeaways, beaches or have masks, but it came back in NZ and not WA where they say 8 months now without community spread.

Countries that had the hardest lockdown in Europe like Spain and UK had a strong second wave of positive tests (although not anywhere near deaths) which shows like a cold it will spread sooner or later despite whether you had lockdowns or not.

China? Who really knows what happened there?

Spent a nice day at Hanging Rock today, great to get out in the fresh country air and get away from all the covid insanity (except there were signs everywhere telling people to social distance ). Expected it to be pretty quiet but it was actually teeming with people, couldn't really social distance on the narrow paths but no-one seemed to care and people were happy to give strangers a hand up the tricky parts of the rocks. Happy to say I only saw one person in a mask (that was right at then end, thought it was going to be a mask free day for a while). Seriously, I can't believe that the majority of people believe in all this nonsense. They may not know what's really going on (who does?) but they know in their hearts and their heads that there is no pandemic.

Those vaccines sure work.

But that's the thing, none of the trials on animals or humans showed that the vaccine stopped anyone getting COVID. None of the humans were challenged with teh infection once they were vaccinated (instead some seriously convoluted statistics based on PCR tests at 44 cycles and only 3 patients in Moderna and 8 in Pfizer studies). All they could say from animal trials, when they dissected the none human primate's lungs, that it was less severe with a vaccine.

WHO chief scientist made a point of saying it won't stop you getting COVID and it won't stop you passing it on!

Then there is the incomplete safety data that didn't pick up what seems to be very common allergic reactions and didn't warn of possible infertility as well as the possibility of having more severe effects of COVID with an exaggerated immune response, or ADE, if getting infected after the vaccine. This is long known about in other Corona virus vaccines and warned about by Yeardon and hundreds of other doctors, but not tested for in these ones.

By the way anyone know what happened to the nurse that fainted on live TV after geting her vaccination?
