Had the same argument with someone. Ended up literally saying you do realise Covid isn't the only thing health related? Or anything medical doesn't exist in isolation. That other things can be just as dangerous and harmful. But the tunnel vision was in full swing. People in the grip of this hysteria can no longer grasp what normal life is. They are fixated on one thing at the expense of everything else and think this is beneficial.

In a weird way this is almost as dangerous.

Now in a Dictatorship half the time the dictators are busy robbing resources and fighting off citizens to worry much about what plebs are doing. Sure everyones poor but that's due to a lack of Public Service and a feesible social structure or state system.

Now to Victoria where we do have these things and we are in deep shit because:
a) Dan has utilised the power of the Public Service and all social structure to implement his own view. Unlike others he has a whole swag of resources, technology and structure to do this. Think about it he calls curfew and 3 hours later roads are empty.

Now we could just get rid of him but point b applies

A lot of these institutions have been corrupted. Labor won't oust the leader for fear of their preselections and the party machine and there is no mechanism through the court left to oust him. Also their careers are with the machine Other institutions like health departments want funding or have been corrupted from within by the same agendas and idelogies so it becomes self serving.

Now that's fine when they want to change pro nouns or other stuff that is well either intentioned or no one gives a crap about. But when you use a Trojan Horse to use these structures and powers to push for personal control and an end to personal liberties, constitutional protections and accountability and create a dystopian draconian society we are in deep deep shit.

In all honesty you cant control society, you just need to adapt to it. Best thing to do is to create your own normal you can be happy with.

For alot of people at the moment, its moving out of Victoria, moving to the country, taking a more secure job etc

My advice to people is to stay learned and keep learning and teaching yourself things along thr way. If you are in this thread I actually think its because you have a desire for knowledge within you so I guess take that energy and use it as much as you can

Agree. Take for example I wanted to go o/seas. Can't see it happening. Will at minimum need vaccinations. Days of footy (rocking up on the day unannounced), going interstate or long roadtrips are gone. Even the right to anonmity

meh.. Been out and about today, walked to the local shopping centre and nobody apart from a few oldies where wearing masks. Most where just wearing them under their chins not even over there mouths. the difference to last years lockdowns compare to now is staggering. I think people are over the compulsory mask mandate and are finally starting to see through the bull crap! Well in my area anyway in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

The trend this time round was vastly different I didn't see much of of the #istandwithdan hashtagers on social media the MSM actually did there job and questioned the viability and necessity of the lockdowns the libs actually come out and held him and his Government accountable and Dan was copping it from plenty of small business owners as he should be. My theory is there was a plan the lock us down for the legal duration of what the planned lockdown time was till the 26th! But thankfully Victorians fought back this current lockdown especially reginal Victoria, (one of the dumbest decisions Dictator Dan did. You don't piss off the country folk in Victoria! Jeff Kennett found that out the hard way.) not as much as I wished but enough that Dan and his stooges realised pretty quickly this time that Victorians ain't that easily bullied as the previous lockdown especially after the bullshit spin he put on the super duppa hyper speed UK strain! He gave us a little back as reward in fighting back not enough for my liking. I guess we can live with compulsory masks however it is imposed by people in the community for another week. (hopefully just another week). But it will be very difficult probably political suicide now if Dan imposes another lockdown with only one or two cases again! it'll have to be another major **** up like last year I believe and if that occurs he'll be GONE anyway!!

Where did this virus come from?

No we're not. If anything this place is the only thread left on the site where this can be discussed rationally. I for one believe the virus exists (It's a severe flu like lung illness but just that imo) but the response is insanity. Only problem is it shouldn't be on the conspiracy mysteries board.

But the SRP board has gone full whack job GD is more about the latest Tinder date gone wrong so this is the only place left.

I could speculate and have my own crazy theory but then that leads to SRP types and everyone else to double down and reassert their ****ed up world view of this is Armageddon let's lock down.

I do love a good conspiracy but in this discussion group it's more a vent against the total lunacy of the world.

I read it differently. Most people think its crap but are happy either paid to stay home or WFH that they accept the trade off. Also its a way for the marginalized and the narcissistic to feel superior.

Don't see much changing. We are a very reactive society who don't like change. Although put the idea out we are taking your homes to pay for the fight against Covid (similar to a war effort against the great enemy) and watch the mood snap in an instant. Might put this on the SRP board.

Yeah maybe. I myself am more interested in the Psychology behind this. Maybe its a hangover from the 2018-19 period. No way this shit would've flown in Melbourne 10 or even 5 years a go. But somethings snapped in our collective psych.

As for the rest of the country from a Vic perspective don't even know why your premiers are worried. Sparse population density, warm climate and social dynamics the Black Plague would struggle to spread in. WA baffles me. Your premier has been handed an election by playing to your secessionist crap. I just felt especially from the libs (finally) and the media that they weren't gonna cop Dans bullshit spin this time and actually questioned the necessity. Most people on the socials didn't buy it either and I think Andrews has lost a lot of support due to this 'circuit breaker lockdown'. I don't think the people of Victoria trust him anymore to fix the system. Another stuff up and the pitch folks will be out! He'll be pushed out or forced to resign.

I am talking more from the perspective that it is clear there's no exit strategy. The vaccine was supposed to be the magic bullet and now there's talk that these measures may need to remain in place even beyond it's distribution. Essentially, what needs to happen before the threat of covid and lockdowns are a distance memory?
