These people are so devout they espouse the mutually contradictory aspects of their faith. Like wearing masks outdoors, when the science (which we're supposed to trust) tells us that there is almost zero transmisibility outdoors.

Which is exactly what happened to me and no doubt countless others. I lost two loved ones last year (not from Covid) and could not attend their funerals. The son of one of them had not seen his mother for two months before she died.

I haven't got time to list how all of the Covid restrictions and impositions have affected me and those close to me, yet I don't even know anyone that has tested positive let alone died from it. It really is unconscionable that people are still cheering on these draconian measures that have caused so much pain and suffering after more than a year. There really are some horrible people on this earth.

Australia did a good job at controlling it unfortunately we lost some of our freedums because of the technique used
Other countries who stuffed up the controlling had their citizens lose their freedums in different ways
No one wins but I think I still preferred what we did

If we got the vaxing and isolated quarantine right we could open now

I’m simply saying your argument is missing the other half of the equation - COVID rates have dropped everywhere in the First world after jabbing has started - therefore deaths and hospitalizations have dropped.
So go and do the cost benefit analysis and let’s see whether your argument holds.

True this is not serious for most. Yes it is for some immune compromised but they are at increased risks of many other diseases.
People just have this weird need to believe Covid is this Armageddon like threat when it isn't.
In a state of 6.8 million size of most small countries we have 30 cases 1 in ICU. And we close.
Last year during the press conferences Andrews was giving updates on those who died (most over 85) ignoring all other deaths and those who died of delayed medical care or suicide as a result of this lunacy.
It really is beyond a joke now. And all the people just blindly defending this out of bias fear or some other reason ignoring all facts and any sense of proportion does my head in.
Need a break the rest of the day to another thread maybe or do something away from my phone.
On a personal note this is unhealthy. I'll post back when I've got something new to add as anyone on these pages knows my opinion by now.

Never to the extent of what is happening now. We're not mitigating risk, we're refusing to take any at all. Unless you're a footy or tennis player, in the racing industry, extremely wealthy etc then you can do whatever you want.

It makes you a covid anti-vaxer. Most covid anti-vaxers would be also too scared to take a flu vaccine.
I don't like to take the flu vaccine because I don't see it as necessary but I will take the covid vaccine because I don't want to end up in hospital wasting society's resources.I also don't want to inadvertently kill anyone else.

I am not against vaccination and aside from covid, my serology is up-to-date. The biggest issue I have with this vaccine is not having enough information for informed consent.

Poster derided the fact we wear mast when there’s zero chance of getting COVID - I was making the point it was a foolish argument, given we seek protection from equally unlikely events.
So the “masks are useless argument” is like saying “seat belts are useless”.

Fair call.Im a smoker so I'm getting it. I don't like having breathing difficulties it scares me.Also I'm living with a 70 yo who isn't getting it until Pfizer comes in so I don't want to be responsible for giving it to him.

I've just booked my vaccine for the 26th of June to protect myself, my housemates and the community in general.
I don't want to die like a fish out of water gasping for air like the scenes in India.
I also want to avoid adding to the burden on Melbourne nurses and hospitals.
I know 12 people who have had the vaccine and the worst side effect was a headache that was fixed with a panadol.
We all know how many nursing home resident's died a horrible death last time and I don't want to contribute to that by refusing a vaccine.

I've got some bad news for you. If you die a natural death from old age you will most likely die like a fish out of water gasping for air. I could go into more details but that's basically what happens, have seen it with both my parents. Those nursing home residents that died a horrible death last time had the kind of death most nursing home residents have whether it's called Covid or something else. Quite disgusting the way that Daniel Andrews used their deaths to further his agenda.

The only thing you are trying to protect yourself from is fear.
