There were a couple of places I was in through lockdowns, one of them was dental and I tried to pay in cash. They wouldn't take it and insisted on a card payment. I wondered what they would say if I said I only had cash no cards on me, so I did and they still wouldn't take it. They sent me an invoice.

Podiatrist I visited recently only wanted cash, go figure. Had to go around to the ATM, luckily nearby.

You think the notion that cash will be phased out is conspiracy talk??

Are you aware of the decline in cash usage at points of sale and in general over the last couple of decades? Think about how much less you use cash now than you did even 5 years ago.

It will happen just by natural attrition - i.e. as less and less people use cash, cash will become more costly for places to hold, store, bank etc. I'm sure you'll still be able to use it, but it will become much more select and a lot less convenient.

Regardless, more than plausible that cash will be phased out for the most part, by fair means or foul. Your conspiracy angle is a bit whack.

I think if you read my post I’m in complete agreement that the “natural phase out”, started a long time ago.
I’m simply saying the CT of cash being outlawed is just a bandwagoning exercise to try to legitimize their claim - believe me it’s a well known Conspiracy Theory that the Elites want to control our money by eliminating cash.

Yeh now I think about it, I struck that as well only recently seeing a specialist whose suite is attached to a major hospital. He didn't have an eftpos machine, cash or personal cheque is all he takes which was made clear before I showed up. I vaguely wondered if it was some sort of stand against the banks or simply trying to keep his costs down.

Yes, podiatrist apologised for not telling me when I made the appointment. There was no receptionist either, so probably struggling a bit with overheads.

tbh I wasn't aware that it had been designated as a conspiracy theory, seems perfectly plausible to me that certain powers that be would love to phase out cash. 'Controlling our money' is one possibility but I think that there are several other more practical - and likely - reasons.

While I take your point about 'bandwagoning', I think that whether or not it's used to 'legitimize a claim' does not necessarily refute its validity as a theory(or not), conspiracy or otherwise.

The move comes after the Nordic country last month stopped using AstraZeneca's (AZN.L) vaccine altogether citing similar concerns. read more.

The country's health authority said in a statement it had found that "the benefits of using the COVID-19 vaccine from Johnson & Johnson do not outweigh the risk of causing the possible adverse effect in those who receive the vaccine".

Or a good old fashioned blood test. If you're going to pick it up on a tiny bit of mucus on a cotton swab just a finger prick test would do?? But apparently not yet it can be picked up in people's crap. Apparently. An apt diagnosis for all the s**t this has bought forward

blood tests are far less accurate, which is why lab tests are used.
