WA'S COVID-19 ankle braceletting powers are limited to only ppl that have already broken their quarantine, to try and make sure they don't do it again.
They are not useable for cases of the seasonal flu.

That's a shame for Victoria. Unfortunately, when another state gets proactive and takes measures to control this thing it means Victoria is no chance of following that lead

Is this a wind-up?

ankle-bracelets on a person with a flu virus....Where did our Democracy go?

That ship sailed.

We're at the point now where citizens who want to go back into their home state have to pay for their own two week mandatory hotel quarantine whether they have the virus or not. Most hotels won't take pets so there's quite a few I'm told stranded at the border sleeping in cars with their dogs.

Give me the choice of doing mandatory isolation, monitored with an ankle bracelet at home or hotel quarantine I'd take the bracelet.

Surely Andrews has to resign after he either appears to have blatantly lied to the parliamentary inquiry this morning.
Those of us that watched it, can vouch that what is reported below is accurate enough.

What's Andrews defence going to be this time?
That no one told him about the Victorian application for 850 ADF personnel to assist with quarantining returning travellers.

Defence increases support to Victoria
25 June 2020
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) will significantly increase its support to Victoria to help it contain the recent outbreak of COVID-19.
Following a request from the Victorian Government, around 1,000 ADF personnel will deploy in Victoria.
Up to 850 ADF members will provide support to hotel quarantine monitoring
, while around 200 personnel will provide logistical and medical support for public testing initiatives....

The Victorian Government has adjusted the number of defence force personnel it has requested from the Federal Government to assist with its coronavirus response.
Hours after Defence Minister Linda Reynolds announced more than 1,000 defence personnel would be deployed to the state, Premier Daniel Andrews withdrew the request.
About 850 troops were slated to help with planning and assisting with the enforcement of hotel quarantine
, while another 200 were scheduled to assist with the state's suburban testing blitz.
This afternoon, the State Government adjusted its request to allow a greater focus on medical testing and support, and will require several hundred personnel only.
The ABC understands the state is now considering using police and PSOs at hotel quarantine.

Reynolds: Victoria ‘consistently’ refused ADF offer
Defence Minister Linda Reynolds says the ADF was “consistently advised” Victoria did not need army assistance with the hotel quarantine system, which is thought responsible for unleashing the state’s second coronavirus wave.
It follows Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews earlier telling a coronavirus inquiry that it was incorrect to say there were “hundreds of ADF staff on offer and somehow someone said no.”
In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, Ms Reynolds said an application for 850 ADF personnel to assist with quarantining returning travellers was made on March 27 before it was withdrawn the following day.

“ADF officials asked whether Victorian authorities required assistance with its mandatory quarantine system on multiple occasions,” she said.
“No request for quarantine support was subsequently received from Victoria at that time.
“On 12 April 2020, Victorian authorities reaffirmed to ADF officials that all quarantine compliance monitoring operations were within Victorian authorities’ capacity.”
Ms Reynolds said again a request was made by the Victorian government and agreed to by the ADF for 850 personnel on June 24.
“The request was withdrawn by the Victorian Government the following day,” she said.
“The decision to withdraw the request is a matter for the Victorian Government.”
Earlier on Monday, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews fronted a parliamentary inquiry into the state government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
He said he didn’t believe army personnel were available when asked why private security guards were used instead.
“I don’t believe ADF support was on offer,” said Mr Andrews.
“It’s been provided in limited circumstances in New South Wales, not to provide security as such but to provide transportation from the airport to hotels… I think it is fundamentally incorrect to assert that there was (sic) hundreds of ADF staff on offer and somehow someone said no.
“That’s not, in my judgement, accurate.”

Looks like the 27 March date ADF request was not publicised.
But I just hit the jackpot by googling "ADF Mar 27"

Defence Force ramps up coronavirus response efforts as bushfire operations come to quiet close
By defence correspondent Andrew Greene
Saturday 28 March 2020 at 6:21am
...
As Operation Bushfire Assist concluded, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) was quietly ramping up its efforts towards a larger global emergency — the coronavirus pandemic.
On Friday evening, Defence's top brass issued a military-wide edict, effectively putting its personnel on notice that they could soon be deployed on coronavirus duties.
...
Army to help enforce quarantine of overseas travellers
This weekend the Army is being mobilised in each state and territory to help police officers enforce strict quarantine measures on new arrivals into the country.
...
From midnight on Saturday anyone returning to Australia will be placed in supervised self-isolation, and soldiers will help state authorities enforce the strict measures.
Army members will also carry out compliance checks for those already in self-isolation but will not have powers of arrest.

Naughty naughty Mr Andrews.
Who's gonna bet on him not taking a sicky tomorrow?

Have you guys seen this footage?

What are your thoughts?

I know the bleeding hearts will scream "she wasn't wearing a mask" but...

That's no way for a grown man to treat a woman. Period. Cop or no cop. Virus or no virus. Mask or no mask. It may not be illegal but it is inexcusable.

What's worse is the chorus of NPCs that actually are incapable of reflecting upon human values rather than parroting so inane government slogan.

Police have not even charged her with not wearing a mask.

VIC Police claim they initially tried to arrest her for not providing her name and address when asked/instructed to do so, and then claim they also arrested her for getting a bit feely touchy with that police officer.

It's starting to sound like no one(both state and federal) has any idea what they're doing.
And we are the poor mugs stuck in the middle of it while they now bicker. No one is going to come out the winner in this

I'm sure that's the singular reason for why Victoria has almost all the cases & the rest of Oz almost zero.

Because borders can stop the spread of an invisible virus. with a lengthy incubation period:drunk:....Murdoch & his Fed goons are getting super-desperate for some regime change in Victoria.

Andrews sat on the National Cabinet,
Andrews sat on the VIC crisis cabinet.
Andrews would have been 1000% been involved in everything to do with possible or actual ADF deployment in VIC.
And if he actually was not, then he was and still is not fit to lead IMO.

Why the Feds allegedly accepted a VIC withdrawal of ADF help with VIC hotel quarantine and VIC self isolation compliance checks is still unexplained.

And what the Feds did (if anything) to attempt to insist VIC requesting/accepting ADF troops to assist in hotel quarantine & self-isolation compliance, to mitigate the national security/health/financial/social risk of Victoria being the weakest link in letting the virus out of quarantine/self-isolation.

And is probably still 100% the reason why NSW has been getting new virus cases (22 more today) that have not originated from overseas travellers flying into Sydney.

It seems pretty obvious that he is saying that ADF support was not offered for the enforcement of the hotel quarantine system - however, they were able to provide various support services - such as the logistical support offered in NSW.

Morrison's Press Conference - 27 March:

But today we believe we need to go even further. In addition to the arrival declaration and the support of legislation that is put behind that. So, by no later than midnight tomorrow, that is 11:59pm Saturday states and territories will be quarantining all arrivals through our airports, in hotels and other accommodation facilities for the two weeks of their mandatory self-isolation before they are able to return to their home. If their home is in South Australia or in Perth or in Tasmania and they have arrived in Melbourne, they will be quarantining in Melbourne. If it's in Sydney, it will be in Sydney, if it's Brisbane, and so on. This same situation we put in place, particularly for the case that you will be aware of in Western Australia in relation to the Vasco da Gama and the returning vessel there in terms of these arrangements. And the Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan will be having more to say about that.

But each state will be doing the heavy lifting themselves to support their other states. And I thank them for the reciprocal nature in the way they are putting these arrangements in place. It is a great team to be part of with the Premiers and the Chief Ministers. They understand they need to share each other’s burdens to ensure that we can manage this issue together as a nation. This will be enforced by the state and territory governments. The Commonwealth will be supporting them with all manner of assistance, which will relate to the work done by the Border Force, logisticians, and other supports that will be necessary, but those arrangements will be run by the state and territory governments in each state.

We will be supporting them also by providing members of the Australian Defence Force to assist in the compliance with these arrangements. Now, I want to stress that members of the Australian Defence Force are not authorised as enforcement officers regarding prosecution in states and territories. That is the responsibility of law enforcement officers so sworn in those jurisdictions. The ADF will be there to support those enforcement authorities.
And so we will be turning out the defence forces to support compliance with these new arrangements. It will require that cooperative and facilitative support and I have no doubt the defence forces will do that in the most sensitive way they can, but it is necessary.

The other thing we are doing is we will be supporting the states and territories in the important work they have of enforcing the existing isolation arrangements for people who are already here. The ADF will be supporting those states and territories with compliance checks to ensure that people are at their residences, that they have so sworn that they would be at. To ensure we get compliance with the self-isolation. Again, if there is a situation where people are non-compliant, of course the enforcement authority is the state jurisdiction and the relevant law enforcement agency in that state. But the ADF will be there to put boots on the ground, to support them in their enforcement efforts, and I thank the ADF for their great support in turning up to this task.

Not very controversial I would have thought - but hey - I'm no internet super sleuth.

Complete Red Herring dude....Zero causal link....Unless you can explain how a soldier can fight off & kill a viral threat by their mere presence.

Total fabricated crap by desperate Murdoch lackeys.

Royal Commission into aged care has been pretty damning
With 68% of our deaths being in aged care and there was no plans for dealing with covid
Even after the initial one in NSW

As of Sunday 203 of the 290 COVID-19 deaths were residents of aged care - making up more than 68 per cent.

"This makes Australia a country with one of the highest death rates in the world with total deaths [in residential aged care] from COVID-19,"

Morrison's 27 March statement you provided (thanks) does not appear to preclude the ADF from either being stationed outside or inside hotel quarantine buildings in a show of force or managing/training/supervising the staff who do have legal rights physically enforce quarantine, or from accompanying or supervising self-isolation compliance checkers when they visit peoples homes.

Quarantine is a federal issue

Aren't most aged-care facilities regulated by the Feds?

Alternatively, this could also solely be a result of how good Australian medical care has been for the non-aged care with COVID-19 in hospital, compared with many other countries.
