You’re getting extremely aggressive, chill out.
If people are going to be absolute ******* dicks about it, they deserved to be called out.

I saw the post he was replying to. I think Cuyff14s response was appropriate.

I don't want my mum to die yet. I don't want my father in law to die yet. And thousands of Australians gathering in groups is increasing that chance. And increasing it A LOT. Remember in Italy when the local mayors were saying chill out and telling people they should go out for dinner. That was only a couple of weeks ago. We'll they aren't chilling anymore. In fact quite a lot of them are now dead.
Exactly. My dad has cancer, and he isn't going anywhere, but I need to take him to appointments, and if there are ******* twats like Procrastinator roaming around without giving a s**t, it puts my dad's life at risk even more so should I happen to come in to contact with him, or others like him.

Okay then. What the hell is your solution?

I absolutely despise the position we are in. It has cost me a new job, my freedom to choose where I go, my social life as a young adult, footy etc. So I’m absolutely furious at the position we are in.

Yes to me it does feel totalitarian, like something I’ve read in an Orwell novel. I hate that a politician is standing at a press conference and blasting us for doing things we’ve always done. But what the hell else can they do to stop this?

This is a f’ed up virus we simply haven’t seen before. It’s highly contagious, many can spread it without showing clear symptoms and if that occurs very quickly with exponential growth we will completely overwhelm the healthcare system.

It’s already spread everywhere so we simply can’t let people carry on as they please. If we do staggering amounts of Australians will die very quickly. Some will be left with permanent lung damage. Tell me how that’s better.

I’m all ears if you’ve got some solution that doesn’t involve severely impacting on people’s civil liberties.
With all due respect, your social freedoms are not important right now, nor is footy or anything like that.

Coronavirus circulating in the US in January, Australian travel ban too late
Australia should have put a travel ban on the United States and forced return travellers into hotel quarantines in February, medical and economic experts say, as the US races ahead of Italy and China to become the largest centre of coronavirus cases in the world.
The US is responsible for twice as many imported infections into Australia as any other country.

Wonder that the flys on the wall heard inside the Australian National Security Committee, knowing the potential risk that the US posed

As far as totalitarian goes, I expect that if there was a means of administering a total democracy, pure form, we would have locked down travel from China immediately, banned people from returning without quarantine, closed schools a long time ago and instigated a full national lockdown.

Shows the power of fear and media

It's been a great social experiment if nothing else. Human nature has come to the fore.
Ultimately everyone is looking after their own interests here. Ie. I want loads of toilet paper, I don't want my parents to die, I want to keep partying, I want to go to the beach, I want to go on my cruise still, etc, etc

Would have been very very hard to do it in February when USA had less than 50 cases for most of that month. With hindsight sure.

Uncle Rupert is trolling us

Those who manage to get on to a call centre and are adamant to cancel the subscription are being offered heavy discounts, in addition to the free channel offerings Foxtel announced earlier this week to retain subscribers....But most Foxtel customers are struggling to contact the provider. West Hoxton mum Tracey Lynch, 43, pays $229 per month for TV, phone and internet through Foxtel and said she has spent ten hours this week on hold. "Each time, my home phone battery has gone flat," Ms Lynch said.

ACCC should immediately mandate all internet, paytv and any other subscription services for Australians to have the option to cancel or suspend their service at the click of a button, and not have to go via a voice call to a call centre that usually tries to get you to not cancel or offers a discount to stay.

So it looks like the meltdown in the Telstra voice call network in some locations at some times last week was not just ppl calling Centrelink & Child Support, but also all those repeatedly calling to cancel a range of services where the provider requires you to phone them to cancel. Like Daily Telegraph, The Australian Newspaper, Foxtel, Optus and no doubt many more services in Australia.

Updated: A 17-year-old whose death was initially linked to the novel coronavirus despite not having any previously reported health conditions was denied treatment at a California medical facility over his lack of insurance, according to the mayor.

Just keep this in mind next time the Libs want to cut Medicare

Apparently Uncle Rupert and family now love lefties and are huge supporters of taxpayers paying a large % of workers wages who lose their jobs due to this virus, as this might assist stem the blood from all those trying to cancel/suspend News Ltd related subscription services around the world, including Australia.

I was surprised that the media took so long to beat our Gov up about this and did not push for this big time a few weeks ago.

Standard practice
Privatise the profits socialise the losses

How do you find out when the press conferences (both state and federal) happen?

ABC says in about 15 minutes time Morrison will give a press conference
Watch it here

Nobody is going to (or wants to) wipe out 1.4 billion people. It will happen again for sure. Pandemics are like that.

Wiping out the Chinese political system and it's minions would be wonderful. Jinping should be taken out.

I'm sure many of the people living in China would love that.

This world disaster lays squarely at their feet.

Apparently there are still 2500 Australians on board cruise ships around the world and all of them got on them after the government posted a warning not to go in early March. Baffling.
