Coronavirus and Football

Also it would be illegal for a player to play for free in the chsmpionship. There's min wages that need to be met, insurance etc.

Jackson Irvine is an important player to Hull. Incredible that they couldnt continue on the same terms for another 30 days.

Apparently players are entitled to a month of salary in July as an insurance for them while they look for a new club etc. The club was demanding the players basically play with that salary covering the games, so while they'd probably get around the technicality that it wouldn't be for free, it was still stripping a month's salary from the players.

Yes, Ive heard that all out of contract players get another months severance pay. Sounds like your owners were trying to get players to sign that right away and use that as their "pay" for July.

Holding my breath for that explosion of cases.

Please ensure you wear a mask
Why would the general public need to know if a footballer or any individual has COVID-19?

I guess most clubs dont want rumours spreading about which of their player has COVID and it will be self evident in any case when journos report player x hasn't left his house and/or is absent from the clubs training ground.

Interesting that the government is pretty much saying that we're at the limit of what we can do without causing another wave.

So if we ease restrictions in one area (schools was mentioned) we might have to tighten restrictions in other areas.

Based on that, and given my kids haven't been able to do any organised activities for 4 months, I can't see how getting professional football back with crowds is any sort of priority.
