The fact the Cup games had to be played regardless shows how able teams are to field a competitive side when pushed, it's a shame the rules in the PL allow them to muddy the schedule unnecessarily.

Why would they have to isolate if they were all false positives?Jota, Henderson, Milner, Oxlade Chamberlain, Neco Williams all couldn't play the FA Cup match due to iso. Kelleher couldn't have played either, he only came out of iso on Friday. Our lineup in the FA Cup tie was telling.
The games to postpone for us were Spurs away and Chelsra away after outbreaks prior to both.
Presume they were waiting on pcr results. They definitely werent training all week. Why would they have to isolate if they were all false positives?
Ludicrous considering they fielded a team on the weekend easily.
Wonder what the odds of all those LFT positives followed by PCR negatives is.Presume they were waiting on pcr results. They definitely werent training all week.
It’s absolutely farcical this has been allowed to happen, they knew all the time they would be without 4 players to AFCON. This should absolutely not be part of what has been meant for covid outbreaks, there are mostly injuries and AFCON - tough luck, but the FA are a shambles with this now:
The decision came after the Football Club confirmed that it had an insufficient number of First Team players available to fulfil the match due to COVID-19 cases, injuries and players on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Yeah I agree. The FA really need to be stricter on this. Maybe implement what the Italian Football Association are doing and threatening that teams will have to forfeit with a 3-0 loss. How many reschedulings are we up to now? Every club has a youth squad, there are no excuses to not be able to field a side.
FA got it right with the FA Cup.
Under no circumstances will a game be postponed. We had our U18 team on standby incase they were needed for the Shrewsbury game.
But it was ok for the League Cup game because you faced a better opponent? This is why there are allegations of manipulation of the situation.
5 of the squad that played vs Shrewsbury would have been unable to play Arsenal. No Matip no Firmino no Kaide Gordon. No Allisson and Adrian available mid week either.
Its a different scenario for a 2 leg semi final and in any case Liverpool now have to play home first and away second which is a disadvantage.
We had U18 players on standvy for the FA Cuo match. That speaks volumes.
But they could have had this 11 take the field against Arsenal if they chose to.
Kelleher
Gomez
van Dijk
Konaté
Robertson
Fabinho
Milner
Henderson
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Jones
Jota
Kelleher wasnt available - was in iso until Friday. Milner, Henderson, Gomez & Ox were in iso and couldn't play the cup game on Saturday against Shrewsbury either (they are automatics for FA Cup games). Monday will be there first training in 8 days.
Our of that list only Jones, VVD, Fabinho, Tsimikas & Robertson were definitely available. Kaide Gordon only come out of iso on Thursday.
Not sure about Jota. Any team againsr Arsenal would have included no senior keeper, the players above and mostly U18/23 players.
Theres a reason we had u18s on standby to play the FA Cup game as we had to play it no matter what.
