The rapid implementation of restrictions for say 3-7 days (not always a complete lockdown, maybe just masks and gathering limits as in Melbourne) is an appropriate interim response while they determine whether there is a genuine outbreak or just a couple of cases that have now been identified and quarantined. Lockdown follows if they determine that it's a growing cluster.
How they got infected when in isolation is another matter. Were they already incubating it when they entered isolation? Or did they get infected by the aerosol route discussed above? Was there a breach in isolation protocols? It's hard for us to know, and probably best not to speculate too much.
All true but as you said on your first statement it is weird and doesn’t equate to the narrative we are being sold at the moment.
For once Dan has taken an appropriate response and not gone full lockdown as Brissy and Perth have both shown is AT PRESENT is overkill, although I don’t totally dismiss it as warranted. Let’s hope it stays that way and for us the speculation of this strain is just that in Oz.
Enjoy your evening mate, I’m off to pick up my missus who runs the Quarantine on Easter Island and then drop her off at her second job as assistant to the CMO of Equador. Then have dinner with a good mate who runs Amazon now Bezos has stepped down.
