Except for diesel, which makes zero sense as it’s actually cheaper to make than unleaded. Surprised there hasn’t been more of an uproar about this.

Which does suggest it's pure "discounting" rather than anything more logistical. Maybe diesel usage less impacted by the lockdown? Dunno.

Any separation in pump price between petrol and diesel is usually artificial. In my mind anyway :)

The pokies industry getting smashed.

NRL's desperation to restart makes a shit load of sense when you remember so many of the teams are owned or controlled by ****ing pokies ("leagues club" = pokies). Media is being generous to not make that connection. They are screwed. If this goes for 12-18 months, perhaps a wonderful scenario where the teams are divorced from gambling eventuates.

Spoke to my grade 6 nephew yesterday, he's doing classes on Zoom at the moment. I suggested it would be a funny gag to moon his mates, he assured me this sort of behaviour is rife, would be fun doing school remotely at times I reckon.

Sounds like he'll be on chat roulette eventually

in my daughter's year 10 class they've just had random outsiders logging in. They think a couple of class mates that went to other schools previously may have give the log on information to some mates.

By the end of the week she said it seemed to have been sorted. I'd be dismayed if outside people were easily able to gain access.

I think I'm saving bank on coffee. I can buy 1kg of ok but not great, reasonably freshly roasted allegedly free trade beans for about $30. And even WFH where I pretty much live on coffee whilst the sun's up that key seems to last about 2 months. I don't buy a huge amount of cafe coffees during normal business, but still that's the equivalent of about only 6 barista brewed examples. So yeah, that.

Zoom is a bit of a security nightmare. Our IT department has a blanket ban on it - we can’t even use it for non-sensitive meetings.

I can only assume schools use it because they don’t have the budget for something like Microsoft Teams.

Positives?

I run an online business which has benefited from the lockdowns. More money is always good.

I'm overseas and usually stay in airBNBs. It is a renters market right now. So that's good for me.

Old acquaintances who used to consider me crazy for some of my ideas have recently been trying to contact me.

I suspect in large part this is merely to vent their frustrations with the current situation.

In some cases I am taking the time to speak to them, in some cases, I am not.

Either way, it is nice to hear from people from my past.

Do these positives outweigh the negatives?

I suppose it is all a matter of perspective.

But if I could somehow magically make everything go back to 'normal' tomorrow, I would.

Are you still a lawyer?

If so, I have a question for you. Do you believe there has or will be a spike in divorces if/when the lockdowns end?

I know that law is a diverse field, and corporate lawyers might know next to nothing about family law or whatever, I get it.

But even still, you'd know way more about these things than me, and I'm interested to get your take.

I thought I was in danger of losing one of my jobs due to the impact of the virus............... they actually want to increase the hours I already have (effectively doubling the hours I already do). Crazy times
What job is that?

Going on these figures Covid has a worldwide mortality rate of nearly 7%. Pretty damn high.

Early estimates are that about 6/7 cases are undiagnosed. So puts cases globally at about 16.5 million. Changes the fatality rate just a bit.

People are indirectly being less selfish, not wanting others to get sick (because it would increase their chances of being sick too).

Everyone is going through more stress some form or another. So theoretically, there might be more public compassion and understanding for those who have suffered from mental illness.

I never followed my career dream because I didn’t want to be poor.

Well, now I’m poor so I may as well follow it so I don’t die with regrets.

I officially leave the shitty corporate world and am throwing my balls on the table.

The second this lockdown ends I’m gonna actually chase down my dream. Stand Up Comedy.

You have got to be joking.
