They got the name wrong and seen a similar name on some fish pellets? Tank cleaner? something to with fish in tanks. And decided to ingest the wrong thing.
Old girl got crook as a dog and old boy died in hospital.

Fish tank cleaner. It was old girl's idea to take it.

“I saw it sitting on the back shelf and thought, ‘Hey, isn’t that the stuff they’re talking about on TV?’ ” the Arizona woman told Vaughn Hillyard of NBC News. She and her husband then took a small amount of chloroquine phosphate mixed with soda, in hopes it would prevent them from being infected with the coronavirus. But the aquarium version of chloroquine phosphate is not the same formulation as the prescription drug: The couple both fell severely ill within 20 minutes, and the husband died on the way to the emergency room.

She now blames Trump saying ...

Don’t take anything. Don’t believe anything. Don’t believe anything that the president says and his people … call your doctor.

Ironically she's now calling for people to heed the advice of a person capable of mistaking the anti malarial drug hydroxychloroquine with fish tank cleaner and then self administering the latter without even conducting the most basic google search. Even after becoming violently ill and losing her husband in this unfortunate incident she'd rather shift all the blame onto Trump rather than admit any culpability herself. Remember it was her idea to use the fish tank cleaner not her husband's, or for that matter Trump's. Total narcissist.

You really think the NRL game is to blame and not the infected people let off the cruise ship?
Community transmission existed before that cruise ship docked. Letting those people dock and mingle just exasperates things further. I would say 22k where hundreds are in close contact with hundreds/thousands would have a much larger impact.

Snopes says ...
I’ll go with he called it a hoax and I take him with a pinch of salt.
Perhaps we should be discussing our shores and how our leaders are reacting.

Morrison has me ****ed. One minute he is urging people not to be at the hairdressers for more than half an hour with further urgings of try to be less than that. He was telling us this very seriously.
Next day, nah, scrap that. Que!

I agree with everything but your final sentence. He did not call "growing concerns" a hoax. I addressed this flawed concept in #2,436.

And you’re wrong. In the days before he made that comment, Democrats were expressing a growing concern that Trump wasn’t doing enough to respond to the threat. The concerns were wholly valid and I shared them. He took these criticisms as a politicisation of the situation and clearly, he erred in calling them hoax. I was flabbergasted at the time. If only he’d listened instead of being an arrogant prick.

This was almost a month after the travel bans.

Geez just saw on 9news that Indonesia is predicted to have half of their population infected soon. Lack of testing, poor standards, and a population that ignores all medical advice. Currently a death rate of 10%.

Hard to feel sorry for them though when they are still celebrating festivals and going about life as if nothing is happening.
Yeah, it’s a different culture and a lot of them believe that their religion and worshipping will ward off the virus.
With Nyepi day they at least self isolated for 24hrs:D

Thousands of people flew out of Wuhan to cities around the world before it went into lockdown at the end of January. Guess where their top destination city was in Australia (by far). That's right. Sydney. That's why Sydney's infection rate has far outstripped the rest of our cities right from the start.

Sounds like natural selection at work.

There's that, but if you have tens of thousands in a stadium... it potentially makes that number even higher, which is what we're going to see soon.

FMD. The guy can't cut a break. He imposed travel bans affecting China at the end of January and was immediately criticised by health experts and some Democrats.

Then a month later (if we agree on your timeline) he's supposedly not doing enough.

He then states that the Democrats are politicising the issue. I wonder what gave him that crazy idea????

Heartening but not there just yet.

They had mild asthma

Yeah I saw that initially, then couldn't find it when I went searching further.

Even if so mild asthma is a really variable/heterogenous condition
-does that mean occasional ventolin use and pretty normal life?
-Ventolin before exercise only?
-Low dose puffer and never needing hospitalisation before?
-Asthma as a child and now grown out of it?
-Flares in winter, but no medication at all in summer?

Also
-it hasn't been listed as a common comorbidity in other studies of COVID deaths
-I really hope it doesn't become a trend given how common it is in Australia!!!

Good point.

I can only surmise that the advice he was acting on changed.

It's hush hush. The Chief also wants to call a state of disaster. They're preparing for crime like we've never seen and full blown riots. It also includes full scale lockdowns which aren't too far away.

His words were 's**t's going to hit the fan, stay tuned.'
Cops are always like this. They have to deal with scumbags all day, so start to think all of society is like that. My mate is a cop and he loaded up on gun ammo for home, just in case.

Yes, the military have been called up, but it's not for riots. The will be helping with things like border control and disinfection. The same way they lent a hand during the bushfires.

You do that often to, resort to name calling because you think you know everything. I know what I read and if I had known I had to bookmark it I would. The location of the cave is highly secret. But you know everything so of course their was no such reporting.
60 minutes were one of the first to introduce wet markets from their expose in...Maylasia. And to see that just go back through the history of this thread part 1. Wet markets only ever started getting discussed after 60 minutes.
So rather than being a w***er why not shuffle along and try and highbrow somebody else toss bag.
60 minutes were one of the first to introduce wet markets from their expose in...Maylasia.
Try and stay relevant and hopefully you don’t reply...
By the way know all...what proof do you have it was from the wet markets? Because 60 minutes told you? From Maylasia!
No, I don't think I know everything.

What I do know, however, is that there's no evidence this virus is bio-engineered. Whereas the potential danger of wet markets have been warned about for years. Wet markets being the source pre-dates that 60 Minutes story, in fact they were rather late to the party. It was known back more than a decade ago that SARS is likely to be zootonic:
The reservoir is still unknown, but SARS-CoV has been isolated from Himalayan palm civets (Paguma larvata), and evidence of infection has been found in a raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides), a Chinese ferret-badger (Melogale moschata), and humans working at a live animal market in Shenzen municipality (14). Seroprevalence of immunoglobulin (Ig) G antibody to SARS-CoV is substantially higher among traders of live animals (13.0%) in Guangzhou municipality than among healthy controls (1.2%), and the highest prevalence of antibody is among those who traded primarily masked palm civets (72.7%) (15).
When you're exposed to a wet market, and its conditions, you have a exponentially greater chance to catch something. All it takes is the right mutation, the right circumstances... for the virus to jump from animal to human. Wet market more than fit that criteria. So stop speaking absolute horseshit, mate.

There will not be a lockdown for 18 months. I spoke to a medical researcher today who said that a vaccine will be on the market before the end of the year, but equally importantly, there will be drugs out sooner that will minimize the effects.
There is big money in being the first with the vaccine. I agree that they will rush it out. They'll want it ready before the next northern winter (ie our summer).

I’ll just leave this here for you;

Idiot eh? No proof...
From Bay 13 especially for you;
Thrawn is a w***er...x3 claps...Thawn is a w***er. You get the idea.
Bats can carry SARS virus. And?

That's not proof that this is a bio-weapon, like a couple of you idiots have alluded to. Also you're a nobody, you don't speak for the Bay.

Come back when you have a research/scientific paper detailing the genetics of the virus that conclusively points it to be man-made.

What is there even to gamble on currently?

Can we maybe bet on the coronavirus?

A poker website (that allows you to bet on how poker players perform in big tournaments) had a market for how many COVID cases America would have by the end of March.

The bet was up for about 12hrs before being taken down, but the odds at starting were something like

less than 5k $4.50
5k-12.5k $3
12.5k-25k $2.50
25k+ $6.50

25k started at $6.50 and got bet down to $3.05 at the close. At the moment, with 5 days to go USA already has over 68k cases, and and will end March with about 150k cases.

As an aside, I play a bit of poker, and have been able to win a bit of coin on betting things like the AFL being postponed and not having crowds vs non-believers etc.... Its amazing how many people thought, and continue to think, that this is just a flu as the world closes its borders around them, the Olympics are postponed and the freaking pubs get closed.

See losing discussion and revert to name calling. You don’t get it do you...they have been working with these bats since 2004. No suspicions? OK then. s**t you would think they would be all over a vaccine for this - 2004! So what else have they been doing...creating bio-weapons perhaps!

‘In recent weeks, she has been the subject of allegations COVID-19 escaped from her lab — the Wuhan Institute of Virology.’

Nothing to see here. Move along...

What proof do you have it came from the wet markets? Produce your proof, not assumptions. Is Liam Bartlett your proof? Or the statistics you quoted?
‘You will have to point me to where I have said I have proof of this. Rather I acknowledged it was firm conspiracy theory I have and where it emanated from. And you pot people for sharing valid opinions.
I do know a valid counter argument, ooops, cover up story and that is it has conveniently been tracked back to the exact workbench and worker and he is ground zero but wonders what all the fuss is about. How bloody convenient. All parceled up and solved. Lovely.
It’s like you somehow expect that if it is was untoward China would yell it from the rooftops.
You honestly think any nation would come out and say yeh we made a blue and some bio-weaponry we have been working on has escaped. And I would think it is plausible mishandling or some other malfunction has meant it accidentally escaped. Also I think it could have absolutely been deliberate. And I am open minded it could have come from ‘wet markets’. And I will continue to have an open mind on this. But I will not discount what I read early doors and why this very valid source was not followed up further and reporting changed tact.
Not losing anything here, it is you who is losing your rationality. I am actually giving you a scientific paper that shows it is very likely that these viruses hop to humans from wet markets, whereas you're posting a quote from news.com.au that can't even be verified?

You say it's a bio-weapon - show me the genome sequence/structure of the virus/etc that points to it. Actual hard scientific evidence. Put up or shut up.

From what I can gather from your posts on this you are a pompous dickhead and just recite what you read and believe it all like a lap dog. No questions asked. No critical thinking. You need to take off your blindfold.
There's no critical thinking from a position of no scientific evidence.

Do you think the moon landings were fake too? I might seem pompous to you but that's because you're arguing like a flat-earther, and I'm calling a spade a spade.

This part was very interesting ...
That’s with strict measures being followed to the letter.
Want to know ? Honestly? It’s not. People are still scrambling to get their liquor, heading to the beach and still taking their kids out of schools and to the shops.
If government implements stricter protocols, then it’s obvious the curve will flatten within weeks. But strict protocols - lockdowns must begin.
Australians won’t like it. There will be thousands of rebellious people of all ages. ‘Government doesn’t control us, you or me’..’ but government must bail me out’
Ha. Love Australians expecting their government to hand outs but won’t listen on the other hand.

**** yes! I know we are all having a shitty time but here are my last 2 weeks in bullet point form. Went to s**t quick but things are becoming good.

- Terminated my lease, set a date to go remote contracting for my programming job.
- Got Rona'd when it hit Germany (pretty sure i got it from a US tourist)
- While in quarantine my flights out got cancelled. Obv could not get on a plane while infectious anyway.
- My fiance is stranded in the States. **** i miss her.
- Our aussie wedding is on hold.
- New remote job got canned.
- Homeless, jobless and alone in a foreign language speaking country.

Then...
- Three people offered me couches to stay on.
- I can see people again (up to groups of 2 lol)!!
- The community came together and has been awesome. Plenty of TP in the Supermarkt.
- trump (stupidly) is talking about opening up the States so maybe i can get my fiance out of there. She is at least safe and in a good place now.
- I just got a gig manufacturing emergency ICU medical equippment for phillips.

It will feel SO good to do something to help. It will even actually be a small pay rise over my old job. It can't be a German pandemic adventure without some precision manufacturing factory work!
I am beginning to love this country.

Keep going everyone we are getting through this! And thanks to all on bigfooty for giving me an aussie community to mingle with - I've needed it.

Jesus that's cold.
If trump didnt say bullshit, she wouldnt have done it. And you better believe she blames herself. Poor woman listened to dodgy info that was completely unnecessary, made a horrible mistake and is now in a living hell. I dont think that she is deliberately using the death of her husband to undermine trump... maybe she just wants to warn people not to do what she did.
But no, not even a little bit trumps fault, trump is awesome no matter what, it must be a conspiracy #blameeveryoneelse. Jesus mate i get that you are a fan but come back from the dark side, he isn't going to save you

Tend to agree with my tin foil hat on and have smelt a rat for a while. Originally this was said to be a disease emanating from a Chinese lab in Wuhan. The story went along the lines of scientists having discovered a cave where the species of bat had some peculiar DNA. The virus escaped the lab. 100% I read that early doors. Now it is the ‘wet markets.’ The shift surprised me that the blame was now on poor hygiene in the butchering process.
This is a bit like the Transformers...more than meets the eye.
I wouldn’t be surprised if more than China are complicit. How else would you explain such inept leadership worldwide. NSW and their cruise ship fiasco beggars belief. Have heads rolled over that? Populations are watching in horror and in many cases being let down leaders.
Why?
Its not butchering or the eating of animals that is the problem with wet markets, its bringing different species close together in unhygienic conditions. The theory is, this virus passed from bats to Pagolins. It then jumped from Pagolins to humans. It doesnt appear to be the result of the Chinese butchering or eating bats.

Its similar to the story in Australia a decade or so ago where horse handlers started getting sick. The virus was a bat virus, but they got it from horses, not bats.
