I think it's more of a time thing, business such as the AFL need to figure out the logistics of cancelling several games and figuring out alternatives.

You can only assume he is, along with state govts, more concerned with protecting the economy rather that the people.
That you can’t gather in groups larger than 500, but can catch public transport, go to school/Uni is counter productive you would think.
And start Monday??? Does he think covid-19 will take a break for the weekend? This uncertainty is causing further panic.
All for the economy.

In India cows are treated like gods. Like our cows are raised for consumption dogs in places like South Korea are raised the same way. You think the Asians come home from work and decide to kill the family pet dog for dinner after it greets them at the door?

Cows and humans have not evolved the same relationship as dogs and humans. Cows have not evolved to see us as family, to be loyal to us, to protect and hunt with us etc.

Cows in Australia are killed quickly, and if there is cruelty it can be prosecuted because we have animal welfare standards.
Countries that eat dogs don't have those standards, and dogs are not killed quickly.

Therefore, I am fine with people eating cows in Australia, and not fine with people eating dogs in the countries where this occurs. You may think this is hypocritical but I see the differences.

You can't separate the cruelty aspect because those dog-eating countries use cruel killing methods as the norm. Their cruelty is so far above Australian farming practises that's I don't think it's comparable

Yeah apparently the Corona Virus can't infect people on the weekends! So we will start Monday so he can watch his Cronulla Sharks play.....

We are being let down with mixed messages and a mad scramble to look after economic interests first.
The bloke needs to lead, not worry about footy. Make some firm hard decisions that will ease the fear and uncertainty.

I'm not into PM bashing but this doesn't make sense to me. Unless he expects a crowd of less than 500 to attend the game?

The season needs to be suspended. Their is no chance AFL is going to have thousands of people gather for these games. No Chance. Monday will be the latest we hear either 1) a suspended season or 2) games behind closed doors

Why does the season need to be suspended? Surely the AFL loses more money that way. Why not play behind closed doors with everything televised so that they can at least get their tv revenue.

Christ I think you need to turn off the television for a bit mate, the media hysteria has gotten to you. As I said in a previous comment, having a set time for when this happens gives businesses, such as the AFL, to assess their options when it comes to cancelling games.

Had a meeting with our CEO, made mention that we should be prepared as this closure is on the agenda, As per a government representative he is close with.

Pretty sure the season will be delayed until things improve - i.e. cancelled. How does it makes sense to cancel the GP but not the football?

This problem won't be finished this year unless a vaccine is developed earlier than expected. Lockdown will flatten the infection curve and give sick people the best chance of survival, but the lockdown can't be lifted until most people have already been infected or inoculated, because infection will just start again.

I've seen some weird comments about waiting until people develop immunity, but the only way to develop immunity is to be infected or inoculated with vaccine.

What has happened with deadly flus in the past is that the flu gradually evolves to become less deadly. This will probably happen slower with COVID-19 because it is infectious well before symptoms appear, so there is less selection pressure than would otherwise be the case.

He's the ******* PM he should shows some balls and act! Not make up half arse policies and create panic and confusion! Clearly he's not capable.
I was willing to give him a go but his decisions on actions against this virus as well as his decisions during the bushfires I've completely lost confidence in him!
