True, there have been a lot of stupid comments but at the same time there are not enough information for both the educated and the uneducated.

Just trust the government's advice through the Department of Health and associated agencies. Ignore whatever quack pops up in your social media news feed.

If you're naturally distrustful of government advice anyway nothing more can be done. You can sway the uneducated but you cannot sway the wilfully stupid.

6 months in jail and $7500 for repeat breaches of quarantine

Was previously fined $5000 in August for a different COVID breach

Does it seem like a disproportionate number of women involved In these breaches or is that a slanted view?
A mate of mine said the government was very aware that the demographic least likely to obey COVID restrictions were young women. This makes sense because they were incredibly low risk of symptomatic infection and are at an age where they are a bit self absorbed and do a lot of social activities. Young men were also bad but the difference seemed to be around the desire to socialise.

I'll admit that if COVID hit when I was early twenties I'd probably disregard lockdown pretty quick. Either none of my friends would be sick, or those who were wouldn't get it too badly and none of us would be prepared to go too long without partying.

Thoughts?

I will try and find an article which hopefully will offer more context. It sounds totally ridiculous but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets community support in isolationist WA.

not possible. as per federation laws. cant happen due to the free movement of the federation

You would think in theory but would the Feds dare challenge any state on borders again, especially if this proposal was popular in WA?
drugs are not a pandemic. its a criminal issue which doesnt fall under the category in where the state can close the border.

mcgowan is just throwing it in there to get his supporters even more wet. but realistically based on the constitution, unless he wants to secede he could never do it

I don't think he is talking about closing the border though, but the use of police presence and check ins at the border even after the pandemic winds down.

If they can search me for fruit (or at least sniff it out) I'm not sure how drugs is too far of a stretch.
It's not just searching though right, isn't he talking about anyone coming into the state having to apply to do so

I'm with Kirkup on his message to make sure they don't have control in the upper house. Whether it's greens, nationals or liberal, it's probably worth casting a vote for someone other than labour in the legislative council just to make sure there is a checkpoint on this kind of crazy talk.
