They can't seriously say that gatherings over 500 are banned, but then continue public transport.
They mentioned non-essential only at this stage. I wouldn't travel by train anyway.

Trudeau positive

His wife Sophie tested positive today, but Justin is currently asymptomatic, and no plans to test him unless he develops symptoms. His wife developed symptoms yesterday, and both have been self-isolated since.

My hope is that with an increasing number of high profile folks testing positive, the awareness will spread among the toilet paper buying masses to stay at home if they are feeling unwell. Had three clients at work yesterday come in coughing all over the place claiming they were fine " it's not the coronavirus" !!

Like that Spike Milligan poem Black2Blue posted, if this isn't a lesson about our connectedness, I don't know what is. Take care of each other.

BEIJING: China reported just eight cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday (Mar 13), five of which were in the epicentre of Wuhan in Hubei province, where city governments have started to loosen travel curbs.
The numbers are the lowest daily tally for Wuhan since China started reporting figures in January
Three more imported cases from overseas were reported in China - two in Shanghai and one in Beijing - fuelling fears about China's strict containment measures being undone by people coming in from hotspots in other countries.
There have now been 88 imported cases.
Another seven people died, bringing the national toll from the disease in mainland China to 3,176. More than 80,000 people have been infected since the outbreak began in December 2019.

With new infections falling dramatically in recent days, authorities this week began to loosen some restrictions on Hubei's 56 million people, who have been under quarantine since late January.
Yichang city will start allowing people to move in and out, the government said on Friday.
It will also allow the return of people from outside the province, employing a "health code" monitoring system that makes use of mobile telephone.

The AFL is actively investigating pushing its season into mid-October with the league set to ban all fans from its Round 1 fixture.
The league has fallen into line with government regulations that is expected to force the AFL to play the Carlton-Richmond game behind closed doors.
Carlton and Richmond would have split a massive $1.2 million windfall from gate receipts from Thursday’s MCG season opener under their gate-sharing agreement.
Instead the league is set to announce fans will not be allowed at Round 1 fixtures as the league’s advice continues to be updated.
Leading sports doctor Peter Brukner yesterday told the Herald Sun football was certain to be shut down at some point in coming weeks.
“It is inevitable someone will test positive at an AFL club within weeks. What happens then? You have to cancel or postpone the league. If I had to make a prediction it will be Round 1 at empty stadiums and that will be it. By Round 2 we will be shut down.”
The Herald Sun can reveal the league has already been in contact with the MCC about whether it could still conduct AFL finals in October.

The Twenty 20 World Cup starts on October 18 - 21 days after the scheduled September 26 Grand Final - with the first MCG game on October 25.
There is a 21-day exclusion zone before the first MCG game that would prevent the league from playing AFL games in October.
But a deal could be brokered that would allow the AFL to finish its finals series in mid-October before a quick turnaround which saw the MCC installing drop-in pitches before the World Cup match.
The MCC is able to operate its ground on a skeleton staff of as few as 200 staffers - just 10 per cent of the nearly 2000 match-day attendees at a sold-out clash.
Brukner said AFL club doctors at his practice had stopped seeing external patients to ensure they did not pass coronavirus to AFL players.
He said there was no point in clubs testing their entire list every day because the virus was moving so fast.
“Someone generally takes about five days to become positive. I could test you today and you are OK. Then on Monday you could have spent the weekend with people and got to a BBQ with them. You would literally have to test every day.
“One NBA player got coronavirus and the whole league was suspended.
“One premier league manager got coronavirus and the whole league was suspended. I can almost guarantee someone in the next few weeks at an AFL or NRL club is going to test positive.”

Cyber criminals are now using malware, dressed up as a map that tracks Covid-19 cases, to infect the computers of those trying to keep updated on the pandemic.
Reason Cybersecurity issued a threat analysis report about how the malware was embedded in a file, usually named Corona-virus-Map.com.exe, around 3.26MB in size.

Double-clicking the file opens a map that displays the virus’ spread, similar to one hosted by US-based Johns Hopkins University, a recognised source for visualising and tracking coronavirus cases in real-time.
Reason Cybersecurity adds that the data in the bogus map is pulled from the university, though the original map hosted by Johns Hopkins University is not infected and safe to visit.

They're not gonna cancel the season, post-pone it. Maybe. But they're gonna go ahead for now as normal, and wait til the shit hits the fan until they even think about cancelling

Yo can only postpone season for so long. This ain’t going to disappear overnight. Infections will be spread over months and then some.

Players will catch at different intervals making it impossible for any games to be played.

Take it to the Bank.

And you think the AFL isn't bullheaded enough to persist anyway with it?

We all know this ain't going anywhere, no shit. Its gonna take 3-6 months to even begin taking care of this globally.

The AFL made its bed today, and its gonna sleep in it, and believe me with them being so business-minded they're not gonna consider just outright cancelling the season over this. The NBA didn't cancel its season either, they suspended it and its worth 100x more than what the AFL is worth.

My sister (richmond supporter): It is going to be strange watching the footy with no supporters at the game.
Me: Sounds like a North game.

:stern look

NBA will cancel.

USA will be in more shit than the rest of the world combined.

They will make the Wuhan crisis look like an oasis in the middle of the desert.

They have had head in sand, have only tested a few thousand people. Watch this space folks.

U.S Hospital system is as useful as eating soup with a fork.

Players will be infected on and off for months on end. NBA has more flexibility in postponing for 6 months as they own all the courts but unlikely.

AFL could possible run a summer competition if threat is over by then but I doubt it would be a viable option.

Ease up there larkey

Olympic Games must be in serious doubt too, at the very least, probably postponed for decent spell. at worst, cancelled.

Olympics will be postponed for two years. Logistically you can just postpone it a few months.

Will be run around the same time as the next Winter Olympics.
