+12 in Qld and +49 in nsw, both with wider testing parameters.
Still, targetted though if I understand correctly? Just a reduction in the threshold to qualify.

I would still like to see some randomised community testing. Until that happens the data is not completely useful.

Good to see new infections not increasing from a wider test pool though. Our positive results are dropping below 1% of the total tests. The USA still at circa 20%.

Yes.

No. I try to present things in a way that a layperson could understand them, and this thing effects all of us regardless of anyone's qualifications. If folks are capable of getting past the emotional response then I hope they can see that the underlying message in my comments is that I don't want any of you getting hurt. As far as knowledge is concerned, I am just fortunate to have access to more privileged information and people.

I just finished an online meeting with a highly experienced microbiologist and chemist, who both take the view that the current scenario will likely be in place until at least spring. Batten down the hatches for the winter.

Ok thanks

Or as Ned Flanders once said..”Winter is Coming”

Do your contacts believe there is any chance that the virus can be completely isolated and eliminated in Australia? Or has that ship sailed?

Surely not ? No-one can be " this " stupid ?
He has a long track record of promoting dangerous junk science, and yet he still has 1.5 million social media followers. In this case, the biggest danger would appear to be to the finances of the gullible but he was forced to withdraw a recipe book he was publishing when medical professionals took the view that a recipe for bone broth he was promoting for infants would very likely be fatal.

Yeh, know all about Pete from " former " friends who were sucked into his world. Cannot believe he could stoop this low though.

If true he should be pulled up by the Salem witch trial judges and issued a " please explain "

The British police are seriously suggesting that they will be inspecting peoples shopping trolleys.

But yeah guys this is all about an influenza, now stay inside, forget about easter, and let the government solve this problem :thumbsu:

P.S. Are you three playing cricket? Do you all live in the same house? That'll be $5,000 thanks. We're trying to fight a virus here.

Thanks for the links from Ms Horace. I will take a look.

The statement in bold is the sort that will catch the attention of any skeptic. That is exactly the type of claim, IMHO, that does need solid scientific evidence to support it.

That's a fair point. I should have used the word may, rather than will. I've gone back and crossed out the word "will" and replaced it with the word "may". I spoke to Ms Horace about this and she said that there is no evidence to support what I said, however she also said that logically being as well as you possibly can be, puts you in better shape to fight it when/if it hits.

My approach to the immune system and viral infections, is that to have the best chance of overcoming the virus, optimally we need to be as healthy as we can possibly be. In my opinion, even a minor disease or injury, may compromise the immune system. Absolutely nowhere near to the extent that a previous or recurrence of the known flues and other illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, MS, etc does, but if anyone is going to get this, its best if they get it without anything else being wrong with them.

That mostly makes sense to me. I think flu shots are more important this year than ever given the hit the flu would give to the immune system, particularly those at higher risk anyway. I have never had a flu shot and have only really had the flu once, about 5 or 6 years back, but I probably will this year.

Thought it would only be a matter of time before I knew someone that contracted the virus

My wife’s 70 y.o uncle who lives in the UK come down with a bit of a sore throat about 2 weeks ago. His wife who is 63 had a chesty cough for about 3 weeks prior (turns out she tested positive had a mild case). The uncle thought it was just a cold, until he woke up in the middle of the night 2 night later with the worst fever (over 40 degrees C) he’d ever experienced...he said it was like being in a sauna with the worst joint aches he’d ever experienced.

Battled through the night and called the doc the next morning.

Doc said it was no chance of being covid 19 because they hadn’t had any close contact or travelled overseas. 2 days of severe fever, shortness or breathe before the doctor decided to come to the front of his home and do the test on him and his wife.

Another night passed with no sleep and quite severe shortness of breathe. His wife rang the hotline and then the local hospital asking for advice. Their response was “if he can still breathe on his own, and he is still conscious then don’t bring him in because we don’t have any beds...if he rapidly deteriorates then call emergency”

He spent the next 3 nights fighting this thing 24/7, with no reprieve. Got the results back and obviously tested positive.

After 6 nights he finally started to come through the other side. It’s been a week now but he is still very lethargic and has a cold dry cough. He said for those 3 or 4 nights in the middle he felt like he was battling for every single breathe. He honestly thought it was going to get him.

He is incredibly thankful that he is healthy with no underlying serious health conditions.

They believe his wife caught from the school she worked at, after she tested positive they tested a few kids (15-16 year old boys) at the school who she had been in close contact with 3 weeks prior. All 5 tested positive and all 5 were asymptomatic.

So far it’s been determined that those 5 kids have passed it on to at least 24 other people (other students and close families members).

Really hit home as to how contagious this thing really is.
