Six years on, are we any closer to calamity? I'm not so sure.
We've been on the brink of calamity for ages economically. There was a good chance rebuilding after the fire season would have helped at a local level the way school halls and pink bats did but that won't happen now.
Wages aren't growing but prices are, everything is funded by debt and the whole model is based on rabid ongoing consumption, which used to be the name for a fatal disease ironically enough.
