Seems the first reported case of a man in Japan re-contracting it for a second time.

He caught it for the first time on one of the initial cruise ships.

I'd like to see proof.

It could only arise from a entirely different epitope sequence match arising from the other strain.

The odds of this occurring are significantly large.

The man, who is in his 70s, first tested positive for the virus on February 14 while he was onboard the Diamond Princess, which was under quarantine off Yokohama.

He left a medical facility in Tokyo on March 2 after he was confirmed negative. He returned to his home in Mie by public transportation.

But he started to feel sick and developed a fever of 39 degrees Celsius on Thursday. He went to hospital on Friday, and on Saturday was confirmed to be infected again.

As far as i know, no medical modeling has allowed for re-transmission in Hospital loading estimates.

Ok. Relapses can happen but are rare

Wow, that is about as bad as luck can get.

Explanation: There are two types of Covid 19 strains that are almost identical with a small number of genes that have mutated (altered).

Now, when you have recovered from a viral infection it's usually due to small membrane or receptor proteins sequences (epitopes) being taken up by macrophages, and delivered to the lymph nodes or spleen for T & B cells to recieve that sequence, become activated with regard to that particular sequence, and then matching antigens are secreted by the B cells to flow through the body seeking out that viral sequence and destroying those particular viruses when the antigen adheres to it..

Occasionally, a person can overcome one strain, but become infected by another because that epitope in the mutation code happens to appear at the exact same site where the original matching antigen sequence neutralised the prior strain. It's a very rare occurrence.

I highly doubt it, unless he has some type of memory B cell deficit. See above.

The test are not reliable, it is more likely that he was still infected when he tested negative. Japan said they didn't have the capacity to test everyone on the Diamond Princess, that would have to raise a red flag.

I'd refer confirmation from scientists vs. news reports. When they confirm both tests were done accurately + duplicate/triplicate.

Without proper confirmation, he may have just been too weak to generate immunity properly in the first place but he was shoved out the door once he appeared to have been on the up.

Several question marks.

Maybe he has had a relapse rather than catching it a second time. It is not uncommon for viral infections to get back on top of someone's immune system.

Second relapse case. A man in Wuhan tested positive after being cleared.

Watched a video from a retired doctor that has been covering this, he said that data coming in from people who seem to have been re-infected had just taken longer to shake off and resulted in a false negative. He also said the the antibodies the body makes to fight off the infection means you can't catch it twice for a period of between 1 year to a lifetime depending on how long the antibodies remain in your system.

The information was in the first few minutes of this video, I know 16 minutes is well beyond the concentration span of a lot of people. :stern look

Hi everyone, I will fill you in on whats happening here.......thursday evening the PM had a presser announcing schools to be closed and to ask those who can to work at home. (roughly 2 weeks)

Denmark on saturday closed its country borders, only those who live in denmark allowed to enter the country, norway follows.

Yesterday:- bars, cinema's, restaurants closed.

Today , professional soccer teams are laying off players (knowing full well a financial return on payments isnt going to happen) . Government announce economic package to support big and small business (4 weeks full pay) for those who get laid off.

Dr John Campbell (video) Ive been following for weeks.....Ive been sharing and insisting to friends on social media etc to watch him.....he has become an overnight youtube sensation with his daily updates.

facts and figures can be adjusted to support the theme but data shows that China appears to be slowly starting to get back to some sought of production again. This is 2 months after dracononian measures.........so 3 months is a real reality I think.

Feeling pretty pissed off at the world at the moment, lost my job like a lot of other good people... This footy club has always been one of the best things in my life and i can see some very hard times in front of us ( although we are not the only ones, and we are use to it) Time for the weak arse AFL to start showing some real support to the clubs that have made this game what it is.

Chin up mate. Hope things get better for you.

As someone once said, the only things that will survive a nuclear holocuast are cockroaches and the North Melbourne football club (and maybe Keith Richards).
