It is shit and not good at all, but Italy's average was 33%. Hopefully everyone making calls before the government got off their arse has helped keep this thing in check.

What gives us a fighting chance though is the tiny bit of summer and conditions we have left.

Italy's north is plunged in darkness and high up in the mountains, on top of cold/damp/foggy weather, makes it a disaster for elderly people and folk with bad lungs already.

Good news is there is scientific literature that supports warm and light conditions does suppress the full virality and potency of some viruses.

People will die, but we have a home ground advantage vs central Europe or North America at the moment.

The coronavirus test is a swab from the nose and mouth, a more thorough test includes the lower airway by coughing up secretion from the bronchi or lungs. Most testing is inadequate, just take a nose swab.

Cause of death can't be determined without an autopsy. They will determine it is the virus based on how much it has infected the lungs, death from the virus is likely your own immune system in what is called as cytokine storm, that is your immune system flooding the lungs that causes suffocation or damage to vital organs. They can pin it on the virus based on how much infection is present in the lungs in an autopsy.

So my upstairs neighbour runs an Airbnb from his apartment, and has international travellers in and out all the time. Late last week he started feeling sick, sore throat, aches and a dry, persistent cough. Managed to get to a doctor today and they agreed that he had the symptoms. They sent him to to Alfred to get tested.

He rocks up, tells them all the above, and they say no test for you. He's feeling a bit better now though so he's ok. My partner hung out with him a bit last Thursday. She now has a fever, sore throat. So, I'm thinking of staying home from work and going to docs tomorrow with my partner although i have no confidence that we will get tested if my neighbour got knocked back despite having the symptoms. Personally, I've had a bit of a headache and am a bit chesty but otherwise feel fine.

There is either a genuine shortage of tests or nobody wants to know if it's spreading among the community. Because if you haven't just arrived from o/s you absolutely have to confirm that you have been in the company of somebody already diagnosed before they'll test you.

It's absolutely nuts that your neighbor didn't get tested and you and your partner most likely won't. Crazy.

Please again let me know in your infinate buisness wisdom how the largest employer in the entire country of casual staff, who has already guaranteed paid leave for all staff in the event of a national shutdown, who is currently keeping up with historic levels of demand to keep the country from complete meltdown, all the whilst preempting massive unemployment numbers by generating a huge number of jobs in preparation are absolute scum bags, because you think (with no proof), they are price gouging?

Personally I'm more than happy if they up their prices slightly if it means the largest employer in the country can guarantee casual staff paid leave and generate jobs for those in real need during this cirsis.

I think any reasonable Australian would be behind that as well.

Maybe they should cut the casual crap and give people the stability of an actual job.

The USA has tested fewer people for the virus than South Australia. Trump has lied every time he has spoken on the issue. He has variously blamed China, Europe, and the Obama administration for his administration's failings. He has claimed to have a "natural ability" for science because he had an uncle at MITdespite not knowing a thing about vaccines. HE has taken zero responsibility for failings and awarded himself 10 out of 10 for the response. He deliberately delayed testing because he thought positive results would be bad politically and now we find out he tried to monopolise a potential vaccine purely for Americans.

Do you really want to defend Trump?

He is starting to look a little ordinary.
