Just got back from shopping. Everywhere reasonably busy, but with a smile and well behaved.
Only 2 of us so a normal weekly shop.

Anyone here got 3 - 4 kids ?

Going out hunting and gathering on a minute

Would rather stick a pencil in my eye

There is a big SPC Factory Sales up here

I will be back with an update

They got those " baked beans & spaghetti " ?

I have a 20 minute reprieve from my pain

Yeh they have all sorts of shit and more. Mostly it is a dumping ground for every screwed up flavour or meal combination that no one bought.

I am assured we are going to buy essentials and none of these

I just sneezed in Coles. The reaction from other shoppers was hilarious. Some actually ran away.

I just saw a 70 year old woman use her fingers to make a cross and shoved them in a young Asian girls face and say “Asians stay away”.

Seriously what the f... is wrong with people.

Geelong Grammar are closing their doors early.

Geelong grammar is the latest school to cancel classes as the coronavirus spreads through Victoria.
Geelong Grammar School has announced it will close because of coronavirus.

The school made the decision late last night to “bring Term 1 to an early close”, as a precautionary measure.

In a notice to school families, principal Rebecca Cody said:

“By 5.00pm on Wednesday 18 March all classrooms, grounds and boarding residences will close for student learning and activities until further notice. Given we currently remain an infection free site, this decision gives families time to prepare calmly for collection of their children.

“Remote learning for Year 12 students will commence on Friday 20 March. Remote learning for Prep-Year 11 will commence on Monday 23 March. Our teachers will remain onsite until Friday 27 March. Students will have digital resources, interactive lessons facilitated by their class teacher, along with assigned prep.

Attendance and work will be recorded, monitored and feedback provided.”

She said it had not yet been decided when students would return to school.

“As ever, we will endeavour to provide families with expedient advice. If the pandemic intensifies during the holiday period, online learning opportunities will be available from Wednesday 15 April,” Ms Cody said.

Without taking serious social distancing steps apparently current modelling for Victoria has 120,000 new cases per day in 10 weeks time, with 13,000 requiring hospitalisation. I'd expect school closures, working from home where possible and other major steps to be mandated from next week.

l have a daughter with Autism who has an obsession with hygeine . We go through a lot of toilet paper . Its going to be interesting to see how she handles this virus...

My eldest is probably autistic and is actually starting to cope well. If it gets serious it may be different.

Apart from shopping and getting necessities like fuel to pump water we're done (as much as possible.) Kids aren't allowed to come shopping with us if one of us goes and I cancelled a thank you for our fire brigade today. It was in a country town heaps of km NW of here so even less likely to be an exposure point but if I did pick it up last week at a similar event I wouldn't want to go now.

My cold seems gone - haven't had any fever or real throat issues but I do feel weird. IT feels like my body is fighting an infection but it's not a big stress on it. Given how many bugs are around here at this time of year that's no surprise.

We have seven new members that need to start training this week (and if shit goes south we'll be active, we were at the turn of the century during one of these things that amounted to nothing.) Dunno how we are gonna manage that.

I guess they don't start training..

My senior deputy captain is an ed nurse so I'm gonna talk to her about it tonight. We'll see if we can develop protocols and SOPs for this situation. If we can do it safely then we will. Otherwise I think it's not worth the risk any more. The safety of my members is my highest priority. That legislated so no one has any choice.

"Eat the street" happened in Lismore today. Apparently no one showed up. A lot of criticism of council for letting it go ahead. Sounds like so few people showed up it would have been worth going...:drunk:

That seems an extremely worst case scenario considering there's 100K cases worldwide that are currently tracked, with only 200 or so cases in Australia currently being monitored.

Yeah, agreed. But hospitals have to prepare as best they can for worst case.

Oh and in other countries, 200 cases seems to be around the mark where it goes **** up.

Yep, if a sudden spike of serious cases rise and hospitals cant accommodate for them then we'll run into trouble.

It mostly relies on people not being a bunch of hypochondriacs and admitting themselves into a hospital when they don't need to be there.

No surprises there, they are already turning up.
