I assume it will be lock down with regard to certain sized institutions and gatherings.

IMO, a series of protocols for the 70+ demographic should be put in place.

Going by what I’ve read they need to time it just right. We need people to get infected but need to try and control the rate of infection, if they go too early they’ll only delay it and it’ll be bad in a month or two, go too late and the hospitals will be overwhelmed like they are in Italy

I picked up sterilizing agents, rubber gloves, canned food, pasta/rice/oats, bacon, long life milk (50 litres)/powdered milk, tubs of meal replacement shakes/protein powders/psyllium/vitamins, when everyone else was diving on dunny paper.

Got 12 litres of whiskey in the cupboard.

I don't really eat bread, so that's no issue. I'll miss fresh eggs.

I'm sweet for a good 2-3 months.

Yeah it will come , I know Deakin Uni fairly well . They will announce shortly only essential staff to attend their sites. People are a tad dramatic and they won’t shut the place down as they have 20 yr old research going on . The mighty maintenance team will still be in attendance , although rumour has it their fearless leader may lock himself in a bunker and direct from there

Do you know how to stalk animals, tho that shouldn't be an issue with stock everywhere If it gets that bad.

Also do people know how to garden, how to forage in Australia, how to identify medicinal plants in the city etc etc.

This stuff probably won't be necessary in this particular crisis but a lot of this panic behaviour is driven by people who don't know how to do these things or have never given them any thought.

Start gardening now if you haven't. There is a good chance of a serious global depression after this and we were already in trouble economy wise after the fires. Now that rebuild will be delayed or interrupted by this virus.

But no folks, it isn't the end times and you won't need to hunt for food.

By this time next year normal life will have well and truly returned, albeit in a way crappier economy.

He is an immunologist and he does research. He was the first person I've heard who has public ally said where he thinks we are in terms of "the curve" and what we need to keep it flat.

He said social isolation and interpersonal distancing should have started on Friday.

Here's a tip. If you are talking to someone stand side on and both face the same direction while you talk.

Don't talk face to face if you can avoid it.

It just lowers the chance of blowing infected spit into someone's face when you talk to them.

I also have compound bows & hunting arrows and I'm confident of dropping game bigger than a rabbit from 30-40 metres.

Then the only issue will be owners of that livestock shooting at you.

Know how to garden, how to propegate seed from plants and what not. Have a decent idea on how to forage. The second again being nearly useless in suburbia.

For these things to be a requirement of daily life though you're talking almost full societal breakdown.

But hard to garden in an apartment, but moving into a joint with a nice yard in a few weeks, so will do.

And yes I can shoot straight if required.

But it isn't getting there coz of this.
