One of the best angry songs ever, about awful injustice.

Mate, we could (and should) talk about all the great songs by them

Gentlemen, **** the virus, lets all self isolate and in the spirit of the stereotype get roaring drunk...

The rates were not high to start with, no matter who is in office, with the exception of the Keating era. Historically speaking, the ALP have usually funded public R&D more, while the Liberals have encouraged private R&D.

The liberals have cut direct public funding, but have increased tax offsets and other incentives for private R&D. As you can see, private R&D accounts for a larger percentage of Australia's R&D and doesn't go too badly, but could be going better.

Amazing isn't it?

Yet it IS the most important thing that we can invest in.

All R&D is expensive and has been since 1945 due to the high level technology requirements.

The Europeans have very sensible "national champion" policies that help in this regard.

Don't drink any more, possibly related to getting roaring drunk and listening to The Pogues too much in my younger days lol.

Then drink.... softdrink? Wish you health JeanLucGoddard

Strawberry daiquiri's have a lot of sugar so it's no surprise they've caught up to you.

Princess I have drunk in places that would make you wet your pants.

krakouers85 - I spent one fine afternoon drinking in The Felon's Club on the Falls Road.

Beat the Provos at pool on their own table.

Some of them convinced themselves me and my mate were agents, but the olf fellas said, very wisely "The Brits wouldn't be dumb enough to come in here and beat us on our own table, these are mad Australian boys."

They did check our IDs though lol.

Mr Guillard might finally be getting a home cooked meal for once.

Just kidding, she'll be ordering uber eats due to a lack of skills.

Wouldn't she get some union folks to cook dinner for her? :p

Missus wouldnt let me have an Australian flag in the north due to the Union jack in the corner, went to Belfast 10 years ago... was disappointed how very European and normal it was

Edit: Scariest place was Stab City (Limerick)... walked into a pub and couldnt get out of there quick enough

Can you expand on your thoughts for this?

I've seen it a couple times now with another North poster intimating the same, so I'm interested in the rationale.

Where is our revenue coming from with crowd lockouts and or the season not happening?

Shut up and buy a Raffle Ticket

You have stumbled onto the core issue.

It is simply easier, cheaper and more convenient to import most of our high-level knowledge and technology, instead of paying the necessary (albeit very high) costs for higher technological self-reliance.

This is what has happened to defence manufacturing and national R&D since 1945. We simply couldn't afford to keep up with the major powers spending and the new technological costs of the post-1945 world. Therefore, we gave in to the USA's cheap incentives of technology and resupply. It's why we don't have a merchant marine, why we don't refine our fuel, why foreign subsidiaries dominate important sectors and why we will never be fully independent from the influence of foreign powers.

The Giggle Twins bagging Julia at the same bemoaning lack of funding for science:
The Paul Keating Labor government made some investments. During the John Howard Liberal government’s years, there were ups and downs. The Kevin Rudd/Julia Gillard Labor governments were mostly up. And in Tony Abbott’s Liberal government, the graph suggests that it was mostly down with science.

I'm surprised Snake and Groin claim to be libertarians/anarchists when they clearly love being publicly owned.

(Yes I stole that joke)

We may have moved a step closer to the virus, with Ms Horace sent a message this morning to work from home. Someone who works in the same building as she does in Richmond has just tested positive to the virus.

They were all planning to work from home commencing tomorrow, however brought forward by a day with this development.

Not sure if it is the same company as she works for. And if so it may or may not be as a result of some of their buyers returning from a trip to Italy about 2 weeks ago. That would depend I suppose on the incubation period for the virus.

Work is doing a trial run tomorrow for us working from home, but I can see them calling it mandatory next week

Keep safe Horace

I went to the international rules - game where Brad Scott snotted the Irish fella - and my mate took an Aussie flag. We stood on Hill 16 and a locakl said "First and last time there'll be one of them on Hill 16" referring to the union flag.

Belfast is indeed very cosmopolitan these days, mate of mine is a film maker there, has a thriving arts scene.

And Limerick is a hole. I remember when I was there people were settling a long running feud (that started over a kids having a playground fight) between rival gangs with rocket propelled grenades.

Thanks mate. The doctors have said that if she has had contact with the person who has tested positive, she has to get tested and if she has got it then we are all in isolation. Naturally.

Pass the toilet paper please.

Colloquially known as Stab City.

Have a mate with scarring down the side of his neck from a broken bottle. Totally random attack on a Limerick night out.

Make sure to get out into your yard, if you have one, and soak up some Vitamin D from the sun. I hope everything is clear for you and your family.

Yeah, there is a big nacker community not far from Limerck City, a village/town of 'em. My sister was taken for a drive through there by my cousin for a laugh. BMW's and caravans everywhere.

Missus is from a small town in Tipp, even they have a knacker community, and some bloody nice houses built for them 5+ years ago which they refused to move into, took years for the council and finally the guards to move them in.. sill have all their shit where they used to be
