Trump is NOT an immunologist/virologist/microbiologist!!!

He takes recommendations from experts just like every other politician, but don't let that little matter get in the way of your political opportunism.

The level of sincerity from you lot on this issue, serves to highlight how little there is between you & the type of person found in western politics.

So which expert told him to lie to the American people every time he spoke to them? To downplay the risk? To claim it would be gone by April? Not to use a proven testing kit and try and develop their own? etc etc

So the head of the Harvard World Health Institute was wrong when he said he can't believe how bad the American response had been and lamented that Vietnam had a better testing regime?

I don't know what you mean about the level of sincerity of us lot. I certainly sincerely believe that Trump's failure of leadership on Covid19 is just about the worst since Chamberlain said let's make a deal with Hitler. Holding leadership to account is not political opportunism. Failing to do so is rank stupidity.

last news i did hear on that subject was a no but that was a week ago

Generally speaking, I think rural or regional areas have more time than city/suburban areas given spread takes more time, but you would think that people employed to look after the elderly would take a more conservative approach.

Sorry but nah. The Sydney Siege was a one day affair. Compare that 30 years of conflict with the IRA in Britain. France and Belgium have faced years of continual lockdown, soldiers everywhere, dealing with Daesh.

Australia has NO experience of real terriorism.

The 2008 financial crisis? Lol, don't make me laugh, Australia didn't even go into recession! Nothing compared to what happened in Europe and the US where unemployment went to double digits, a decade of austerity.

Overseas wars? They have NO daily effect on life here, It isn't 1917 and the postie coming down the street telling half the Mums their boys died the day before.

One thing I did get wrong was natural disasters - the bushfires this year were as bad as anything going internationally.

You really don't have any point though, you're just being a boomer shaking his fist saying the whole country is full of soft ***** who've never had to deal with anything bad in their lives.

These are assumptions that are all related to your own political bias, and what's more they are off topic attention whoring bullshit.

No, they are all facts that have been extensively reported on in the media. You don't really have an effective response so you resort to pretty base personal invective. Says all we need to know about your faux intellect.

It's not about politics, so he has to insert it in wherever he can find an opening, then keep a willing responder on the hook (you) long enough in order to draw attention to his preferred unrelated platform.

If there's anything non political that strongly holds the gaze of the current spotlight, expect him to insert himself in to it accordingly. He simply cannot accept that his preference is sometimes largely irrelevant. It's a pathetic exercise in "look at me"!

considering the recent influx of mostly asian and western euro backpackers in town for work on the fruit blocks its only a matter of time

I think we would all like to carry on without you.

THERE IT IS AGAIN!!!

THE CONSISTENT DELUSION AMONG THE "WOKE" THAT THEY REPRESENT THE ENTIRE GROUP!!!

God ****ing help us all if you people ever actually seize power.

It's only a matter of time before everybody gets it (or gets vaccinated).

You really are a very small sad man. Can't stand not having the last word on a thread you inserted yourself into and to which you have added nothing but abuse, idiocy, and assumptions.

THERE IT IS AGAIN!!!

THE CONSISTENT BELIEF OF INTELLECTUAL SUPERIORITY AMONG THE WOKE............BASED ON.............TABLOID NEWS STORIES...............AND THE RESULTING OVER THE TOP JUDGEMENTS!!!

They have got hold of you good and deep.

Go on, call me a conservative red neck now. You know you want to do it. How about racist or woman hater? That's also in the instruction manual.

Hahahaha, I'm very much not a Boomer.

My point is what I said before: this country has had it better than anywhere in the world for decades. Literally. The world envies us.

So when a challenge like this comes along, we're psychologically unprepared for what is coming. We don't have the experience of walking through cities knowing a bomb can go off at any time. We haven't had 25 per cent youth unemployment for decades.

Hence this overreaction. My friends in Brussels for example spent days on full lockdown while Daesh terrorists were roaming around shooting up places and bombing metro stations etc in 2015. So a lockdown for the virus isn't as psychologically threatening for them as it is us.

And it is actually the Boomers who are the worst, and least prepared to make any sacrifice. They are so used to having everything on a plate, and feel that they are "under attack" when someone wants them to pay vaguely fair tax on their investment properties.

We will feel this shock far worse than any other major Western society simply because we haven't had a shock like this before.

Bushfires really only affected one corner of the country though, was a normal summer for large parts of QLD and WA

Still though, had pretty big impact on the largest city - Sydney, months of choking smoke.

Agree mate, just impacted one part, this effects the whole country

The coronavirus test is a swab from the nose and mouth, a more thorough test includes the lower airway by coughing up secretion from the bronchi or lungs. Most testing is inadequate, just take a nose swab.
Yeah and then what? Do they have to send it to a lab? Which labs are testing for it? How does the lab conduct the test? How accurate are the tests?

This seems like very important information to know, especially for those who believe this virus is more deadly than the flu.

Says the bloke who was going to burgle our club HQ and smash a trophy because it didn't match his politics.

Says the bloke who brags about reducing his membership because the club doesn't match his politics.

You said the world's biggest public health emergency was media hysteria a few weeks ago.

Log off mate. Your brain has been cooked by social media. Seriously, I say this as someone who considers you a friend in a weird way.

Nope, thats it, this thing has gone too far:

Very sad news for those who loved an Aussie weekend tradition - Bunnings will cancel its sausage sizzles across the country effective tomorrow.

Bunnings Managing Director Mike Schneider said: “Having listened closely to community groups, we’ve learned of the challenges many groups are facing finding volunteers and even supplies to sell given some of the reported challenges being faced by other retailers. We also want to make sure our team remain focused on helping customers to access the products they need.

“We absolutely understand the important role these sausage sizzles play for thousands of local community groups and charities and that finding alternative fundraising opportunities at short notice isn’t easy. To assist community groups who have sausage sizzles booked over the next month, our store teams will donate $500 gift cards to these local organisations to assist with their fundraising activities. Across Australia and NZ, this represents an investment into local communities of over $1.2m.

“There’s no doubt that our decision will disappoint some people in the community and we can’t wait to bring this much-loved community program back,” Mike said.
